The obsession with gigantomobile compensation devices is distressing, and only doesn't piss me off more because so many even bigger things are going wrong these days. Trucks are stupid, wasteful, a pain to maneuver around, impossible to see through in traffic, and 90% of the people driving them have no good reason, it's just "ooh, big!"
I like larger vehicles like cars or trucks because I don't fit in smaller vehicles. The way cars are designed these days, its like they assume everyone must be 5'5" or something. Anyone over 6' (unless they are a gymnast) will not fit. If the seat is a foot off the road its too low unless its something like a corvette.

I am planning on getting a wirelesscarplay stereo in my existing vehicle - they are already out now. I don't need to buy a new vehicle to have the latest tech.

Tethered CarPlay is WHACK imo

I like the interface but was shocked to see it put to use requiring it be hooked up, feels like a regression experience wise no matter the technical explanation

That makes it a bit inferior to my bluetooth equipped (non-carplay) vehicle that is always wireless

If you use any kind of map apps, you need to power your phone anyways. I like the idea of wireless CarPlay for short trips, but anything longer the 30-60 minutes doesn't make much sense.

Huh. I’m 6’1”, not a gymnast, and fit in a Prius with plenty of headroom left over. It’s been ages since I tried out a car where headroom / fitting was an issue. Your last sentence is demonstrably false.

You don’t have to buy a truck as big as an F-150 to get similar capabilities, but with easy maneuvering and more efficiency. I just got a new midsized Ford Ranger last year and it has a lot of capability in an easier to manage size. Nothing about it is stupid.
My uncle has a ‘99 Ranger. The new one is the same size as the old F-150. Nobody makes a ‘small’ truck anymore.

I'm 6'4" and far from a gymnast. I've variously driven and owned a Mazda Miata, a Boxster, and a Smart Car, and I fit comfortably in all of them.

I've owned just about every kind of vehicle, from sports sedans to crossovers to minivans to pickup trucks. I've liked things about all of them, but the versatility of a pickup truck is hard to understand until you've owned one. However, I don't have a daily commute, so the price of gas isn't really a factor for me.
Pickup trucks are becoming more popular here in the UK, although ours are a lot smaller than yours. The biggest sized one we have on sale here is the Mercedes X class, although they are going to stop making that soon.

They are becoming popular because people have the Flexibility of a van like storage, but the comforts of a car. Many people also like them if they have dogs, as if they have a hood compartments over it, the dogs are able to have their own space whilst travelling, although by law dogs should be in fixed cages whilst travelling, not many people adhere to that law.

I’ve planned for a while that my next car will be a pick up.

After you ride in a Ram 3500 for a few years, most regular trucks are sort of "small" :D

Very soon. The already sold out Mustang Mach E is based on Rivian technology. I can't wait until the second year to buy one. Most of Ford's model line will be hybrid or electric in the next three or so years.

The Mach E is not based on Rivian tech, their upcoming electric F150 is but supposedly Ford is pulling out of its deal with Rivian due to budgets being tightened with the current economic situation.

Yep. 6’3 and drove a boxster for years. Fit fine.

I'm 6'3" and the seats in a 911 crush me, especially around the shoulders, great car though.

Careful, you might find it hard to go back to any vehicle that isn't a truck! ;)

That's not very good. My 3 year old X is at 96% health, and I've wirelessly charged only a dozen times.

I wouldn't buy a 2 year old iPhone with 88% battery health unless the price was seriously low.

I remember the battery in my iPhone 6 being so bad I replaced it before it was two years old. I didn't replace any of the others but have always had nearly the same experience with 2 year old iPhone's; original, 3g, 4, 5, 6, 7+. I'm quite happy with 88% coming up on two years, I don't buy items for second owners/users, I buy them for myself. I sure hope your also saving your significant other for his or her next significant other, lol.

The new Ranger is not the size of the old F-150. If anyone would take the time to do the research even if we go all the way back to the early 90's F-150 the new Ranger is quite a bit smaller. The closest apples to apples you can make is an early 90's F-150 SuperCab short box. 90s F-150 wheelbase 138.8", Length 219"', Width w/o mirrors 79".

2019-2020 Ranger (SuperCrew and SuperCab dimensionally the same since they just trade cab space for box space) wheelbase 126.8", Length 210.8" and width w/o mirrors 73.3".

The F-Series only grew after the '92 to '96 generation so saying the new Ranger is the same size as an old F-150 is completely false. I wish people would stop repeating this false statement as fact.
