I can't wait for iOS 5 but I'm way more excited for a new iPhone :D

lol, i'm not mad, just pointing out what you're sounding like. Maybe the all the -1's you're receiving will make sense now. You're saying that the iPhone 5 is useless and iOS 5 is most important, it sounds like you're saying "forget about your opinion". Now, it might not be what you meant to say, but it's just what you're coming off as.

iOS 5 will be just as good on the 4 as it will on the 5? We'll just see if it completely stands true.

What?

Where did I say the iPhone 5 will be useless?

It clearly will be a great phone but I've said before I don't expect it to be that much better from an upgrade position but if my contract was up no doubt I would upgrade.

I said forget the iPhone 5 as in me, thats what I'm doing. That wasn't advice on what others should do.

I think you misunderstood what I meant by that comment.

As for iOS 5, I see it working perfectly on the 4. Will it be faster on the 5? Yeah course. But I still expect it to do the same things.

I'm hoping the iPhone 5 has a curved back or is tapered like some of the predictions, that way I will have no desire to switch :) I love my squared out iPhone 4 so much it's gonna take a lot for me to want to switch. Fortunately we have 3 lines so on average 2x a year we have an upgrade available lol. Next one isn't until next may though...
You mean on average every 8 months.

Don't know if this is the right thread - but just spoke to someone at O2 who let slip that there'll definitely be a new phone, it'll definitely be called iPhone 5, and it'll be with us before October 2011. :D

No one but Apple(even then, it's a very select few, and NO ONE on the retail team) knows what the next iPhone is called, what's in it, and when it will be out. Your source is lying to you.

Well that sucks.

Looks like I'll have to go back to my life of being an average joe and wait for it like everyone else!

Since I switched from AT&T to Verizon 2 months ago, I probably am not upgrading from my 4. Unless there is some earth shattering feature that I feel I must have. I really cannot wait until iOS 5 is released though. I figure we at least have another month (or more) to wait until Apple releases it to the public.

Actually, my sister made a similar claim that her friend at Vodafone (Australia) has seen a genuine picture of the iPhone 5 (I only assume if she did, it would be for training). I may or may not of laughed at her outright though and told her her friend was lying or was misinformed.

But I'm seeing/hearing similar claims lately.

I am looking forward if Apple decides to release a lower budget iPhone and if it is a true "global" phone. I think if they decide to cater to the lower end market, it forces their competitors to lower the prices just the same. I dream to have a smartphone for under $200 contract-free. A decent one and not one from Huawei. Paying unsubsidized prices of $400-$500+ for unlocked phones is just too much.

I am looking forward more to Ice Cream Sandwich than iOS5. Apple only has to worry about one phone per year. Google has a greater challenge trying to cater to several phones. Will ICS help less the fragmentation? What we see in the Android's latest software will probably be featured in iOS6 by next year. Android users are guinea pigs / test dummies of the industry. I don't mean it in a bad way. They just get the earlier stuff first even with all the faults. Samsung already has a phone with a projector inside it. That will someday be common in phones. A 720p (1280x720) resolution display will be common by 2012 once the HTC Vigor gets released.

The next gen OSes is going to have even better app switching, live icons/widgets, and might follow the "hubs' idea from WP7. Eliminate the constant opening and closing of an app. Eliminate the constant presses of the home button. I want to view things at a glance. Right now, our battery technology hasn't caught up for all this to happen right now. Overheating is already a prob with dual core chips. We probably have phones with amazing OSes like this right now and have the technology to do it. But these manufacturers can't bring down the price to a consumer level. More like Secret Service/CIA type technology found in James Bond movies.

We will keep seeing smartphone at high prices, and they won't go down anytime soon. Most people in the forum would pay for contract free iPhone if they lost it and werent available for an upgrade. when people start refusing or unable to pay it, the prices will drop, but not anytime soon

Also, who wants a projector on their phone? That commercial made me laugh. I haven't seen anyone with that phone. It is a novelty that you would try to show people and they wouldn't care. I'd take my iPhone 3.5 inch screen for any long term viewing.

Samsung and the carriers are pissing me off to no end by taking their sweet time bringing the Galaxy S2 to the U.S.

6 ****ing months it's been out already?! Are you kidding me? By the time you get the galaxy sII in the U.S. its already outdated.

At least with the iPhone you have it released in the U.S. at the right time and are guaranteed for it to be the top dog for at least a year (if not longer)

Samsung Galaxy SII is no big deal. I had it for about 2 months and sold it to go back to my inspire 4g which I like better. That said I am waiting to see what the Iphone 5 looks like so I can try that too.

Yeah, now he'll take your opinion more seriously for sure.

I also agree with the forum topic, but I think it needs a name change.

"Forget iPhone 5, counting down the days for the Samsung Galaxy S2"

You're welcome.

Stop trolling and stay on-topic.

Waiting for the IOS 5 here aswell.

Unfortunately that is what everyone have to do, wait.

You said, quite clearly in the title, "Forget iPhone 5". You did not say "I am forgetting about iPhone 5".

I bought my iphone4 whilst still under my contract (still am) with o2. Come October, I get my iPhone 5 free, tariff stay's the same, and I can sell or keep my 4 as I wish :)
Yeah right, O2 will give you an iPhone 5 for free. Unless you are on the top-end contract rate, dream on.

That doesn't mean that your sister's friend was telling the truth, or even that the source that apparently showed the imaged to her(including the person who supposedly took the image) was telling the truth. See where I'm going? Too many exchanges and people involved to really be credible. That's about the third or fourth party through which you heard the news, and that's not even including our sister who told you.

.

I didnt need to, it was clear to me

Not getting the new iPhone but really looking forward to the iOS 5 releawhat was pretty obvious what I was saying.

M mistake if you got the wrong end of the stick

I'm just holding out for the phone lol.

I suppose it will depend on how close the two are released.
