You would think with all the money Apple has saved away that they could spend some of it on servers for their own software updates.

Cheap Pathetic Bastards.

It's foolish to spend money on infrastructure that's needed once a year or less. And despite the safe money is on Apple's servers, without doing some analysis you don't know if and of the many third party networks and infrastructure are throttling the traffic.

I'm fully immersed in the Apple ecosystem and when I think of how much I can do (home automation, home media center, airplay speakers, apps out the wahzoo) vs. how much I've spent I don't consider Apple cheap. Most of their products are a premium price but less than I would spend for similar functionality (there is free / cheap stuff out there but it's a hobby for the people I know doing it and I don't have that much time or interest). I plug in an AppleTV and immediately start streaming. So I pay a lazy tax. Meh.

Centers are built to certain levels of service. Having millions of people downloading a few more hundred meg than normal will of course have a hit. Think it through.

All those people do NOT download that many files of that size normally.

According to the various reports Apple's data center has capacity to spare. But lets say you're right to satisfy you. Think it through.

Haha thanks. It's been rough :(

It's been a weird season for me. Went to high school in the Twin Cities but grew up in Pittsburgh, so the Pirates season is certainly exciting! Still sad about the Twins though.

As for iOS 7 I did the restore and instal through iTunes which took an hour to download and then another hour before it finally activated. It was working fine and then I decided that I wanted my backup for game data. Got the iTunes backup downloaded but now I'm stuck in the iTunes Terms and Conditions. They really need more servers!

Ouch! That's rough. Once it actually downloaded it took about 10 errors before it started to install. That took about 10 min on the iPad, and a bit less on the touch.
