You would think with all the money Apple has saved away that they could spend some of it on servers for their own software updates.
Cheap Pathetic Bastards.
It's foolish to spend money on infrastructure that's needed once a year or less. And despite the safe money is on Apple's servers, without doing some analysis you don't know if and of the many third party networks and infrastructure are throttling the traffic.
I'm fully immersed in the Apple ecosystem and when I think of how much I can do (home automation, home media center, airplay speakers, apps out the wahzoo) vs. how much I've spent I don't consider Apple cheap. Most of their products are a premium price but less than I would spend for similar functionality (there is free / cheap stuff out there but it's a hobby for the people I know doing it and I don't have that much time or interest). I plug in an AppleTV and immediately start streaming. So I pay a lazy tax. Meh.
