Apple's new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max models are now being delivered to customers worldwide following the pre-order period that began on Friday, September 13. For those who didn't pre-order the Pro models or chose to wait, many configurations now have estimated delivery dates in October. However, there's good news for customers wanting their devices sooner: Select Apple Store locations globally are offering same-day or next-day pickup options.

As of writing, Apple's online stores in the United States and Canada haven't yet been updated to show pickup availability, but shortages aren't expected and there is unlikely to be much variation state by state. Meanwhile across the pond, all ‌iPhone 16 colors and configurations are available for Apple Store pickup today in countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Apple Stores in Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Türkiye, and the UAE are also offering same-day pickup options.

To order a product with ‌Apple Store‌ pickup, add the product to your bag on Apple.com or in the ‌Apple Store‌ app, proceed to checkout, select the "I'll pick it up" option, enter your ZIP or postal code, choose an available ‌Apple Store‌ location, select a pickup date, and select a 15-minute check-in window. Payment is completed online, and a valid government-issued photo ID and the order number may be required upon pickup.

‌iPhone 16 models may also be available for walk-in customers at ‌Apple Store‌ locations with sufficient inventory, but availability can't be guaranteed. Walk-in customers may be placed into a separate queue with lower priority upon arrival to the store.

The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are a big update over previous standard models, coming with many features that were once limited to Pro models. New capabilities include a customizable Action button, a new Camera Control button for quick access to camera functions, a 48MP Fusion camera, macro photography, a new A18 chip capable of powering Apple Intelligence (forthcoming), and more.

iPhone 16 Pro models also have several new features, including larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays with thinner bezels, longer battery life, a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera, a faster A18 Pro chip, Wi-Fi 7 support, faster 5G, faster charging, and more. Inventory updated for me. Was able to rebuy with today pickup and cancel the tomorrow pickup order I had. Not sure why you can’t just change your pickup window on an existing order but I guess this is part of the Apple magic?

The end of an era for me. Since the launch of the original iPhone in 2007, I’ve faithfully purchased every new model, eagerly anticipating each September like Christmas. However, this year marks the first time I’ll be passing on the latest release. I’ve been left underwhelmed by the lack of true innovation in the iPhone 16, and as much as I’d love to continue the tradition, I simply can’t justify upgrading to what feels like the same device I already own.

I sincerely hope the lukewarm reception of the iPhone 16 will push Apple to step up and deliver something groundbreaking in 2025. There's no doubt they're sitting on technology far ahead of what we’ve seen, likely in development for decades. Here’s to hoping they finally unveil something truly remarkable in the near future.

Nobody "forgot" to buy this lacklustre phone, it is Apple who forgot to upgrade it this year.
I was quite literally going to reply with the same “Nobody forgot to preorder this thing.” LOL

I don’t plan to upgrade to a phone in this series until all the Apple Intelligence features have been released. Enough of this paying to beta test their overpriced products.

At that point may as well wait for the 17PM

The 16 is the weakest launch in several years.
Shipping dates have remained unchanged since shortly after pre-orders started.
As well, all of my local Apple stores have every iteration of the 16P and 16PM available for in-store pickup…which I don’t believe I have ever seen on launch day.
Tim and the boys better be working OT for the 17…or the sales numbers will be just as dismal.

I'll wait for the iPhone 18

by then a near perfect iphone

the Samsung S24 Ultra blows away the iPhone 16 Max in battery life. So it needs work.

The more energy efficient 2nm Apple Processor.
The S24 lasted 3 hours longer than the 15 Pro Max and has not been tested against the 16 Pro Max.

Last year I upgraded from a 14 to 15 and it was the same phone. I remember seeing this billboard everyday with the flashy advertisement for the iPhone 15. It made me cringe a little. Same thing this year. It even looks like the same billboard except now it's 16. So you see, even the advertisements are stuck.

I do like to have the latest gear. It's too bad you don't get the shock of technological advancement when you do this, but I'll survive.

It was a mess here in Berlin. They also did not charge me for the iPhone 16 Pro for some reason after I traded in my 15 Plus? I only noticed when I got home and I only got a receipt for the refund but no invoice or charge for the iPhone 16
Well to be fair, the iPhone 16 should be free at this point. Haha I kid, I kid.
