Don't bother. You won't even be able to get through the door.
Where do you live? Read my post above, just came from the Apple Store and the place was deserted. I asked the guy who got my Apple Watch and he said all iPhones were available. Nobody was buying them.

The end of an era for me. Since the launch of the original iPhone in 2007, I’ve faithfully purchased every new model, eagerly anticipating each September like Christmas. However, this year marks the first time I’ll be passing on the latest release. I’ve been left underwhelmed by the lack of true innovation in the iPhone 16, and as much as I’d love to continue the tradition, I simply can’t justify upgrading to what feels like the same device I already own.

I sincerely hope the lukewarm reception of the iPhone 16 will push Apple to step up and deliver something groundbreaking in 2025. There's no doubt they're sitting on technology far ahead of what we’ve seen, likely in development for decades. Here’s to hoping they finally unveil something truly remarkable in the near future.
Apple would be in big trouble if people weren’t being born everyday and getting older everyday and eventually getting to the point where they’re looking to purchase a cellular phone everyday. That people with an iPhone 15 (or 14 or 13) think the 16 is boring, is expected. While people that bought a phone in the last two years buying a new one this year would undoubtedly please Apple, the more important customer to snag is the one buying their FIRST Apple product. To that very important group of people, Apple’s offering a phone that’s a few hours old instead of one that’s a year old. Every company making phones is releasing new ones fairly regularly for the same reason, it’s an easier sell.

Nobody "forgot" to buy this lacklustre phone, it is Apple who forgot to upgrade it this year.
Yup. I have the 13 Pro and was hoping for some real changes 3 years later. Basically a tiny screen size improvement.

I also remember/believe that the 48MP camera on the 16 Pro (and the 15 Pro and the 14 Pro) is NOT really 48MP...it's somehow software altered. Am I wrong or is it truly 48MP and are the photos stunningly better on the 16 Pro vs 13 Pro?

Quite a big line at Apple Fritz Farm in Lexington, KY. The store is at capacity. Fortunately I’ve got mine reserved, but I was definitely not expecting this for such a minor revision.

For folks that don’t own an iPhone, it’s not a minor revision. It’s like, the only thing available for them to buy if they want the latest iPhone. And, for folks that do own an iPhone, there are FAR more folks that own an iPhone 11 or older than own an iPhone 12 or newer. It wouldn’t be a minor revision for them, either.

Apparently a lot of people “forgot” to preorder. My local store has full stock of everything but the highest storage tier Maxs.
Honestly that works for me because any lingering sense of FOMO was assuaged by the review videos that have tried to make serious mountains out of mole hills and the plentiful evidence that it’s not just me sitting this update cycle out.

Well, 4pm CT and were lined up outside the Highland Park, TX Apple Store and it’s 93 degrees. They’re giving us water.

They giving out apple flavored candy? They used to do that back when people used to lineup on release day here.

No availability for any Pro Maxes at the 12 stores closest to me, so I guess it's region dependent on how much demand there is (or isn't).

I am genuinely curious as to what earth shattering tech or feature you want or could see them implementing. Nothing has been significant since the X.

It’ll also be available the day after, and during all the days after that until it’s replaced.

Why rush?
Yeah, no surprise there with what Apple has to offer this year. It’s definitely one of those upgrade only if you have to and not because you want to show off your visually different from the previous three generations iPhone upgrade year. No rush indeed.

The 16 is the weakest launch in several years.
Shipping dates have remained unchanged since shortly after pre-orders started.
As well, all of my local Apple stores have every iteration of the 16P and 16PM available for in-store pickup…which I don’t believe I have ever seen on launch day.
Tim and the boys better be working OT for the 17…or the sales numbers will be just as dismal.
Tim should’ve worked OT on the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. So far rumors haven’t indicated any significant design changes to the 17 Pro unless this supposed 17 “Air/Ultra” is actually referring to the next 17 Pro?

Ive just been checking out the new range in Apple Store here in Brisbane Australia. I was tempted by the 6.9in size of the Pro Max and wanted to see it in person. Putting it side by side with the 16 Plus the extra screensize is not that drastic. This may be the first time I wouldn't go with the Pro Max model and save money. the 16 Plus has enough Pro Features and screen big enough that I would probably jump at it

Thought about canceling my pre-order pickup for a Pro and getting a Pro Max but all out at my store.
Yeah you missed the boat. I just checked my store again and stock is way down compared to just 6 hours ago. I think a lot of people did just that: cancelled their BS mid October orders and reordered for pickup today or tomorrow.

Nah, I didn't forget. I guess the ole' 15 Pro Max will have to hold me over another year.
My iPhone 11 is still running fine.
It's a tool, not a fashion accessory. I dont update my screw drivers, multimeter, or oscilloscope every year. When the iPhone dies and can not be fixed, then I will look at a new one, other than that...meh.
