It sure works fine, but it is not Apple. It is basically TomTom. Apple only does the graphics which are the best. Google uses Google database.
It was never Apple providing the mapping data, I'm not sure I understand your point.

It's time Tim Cook took a graceful exit out of Apple. There was so much already in the pipeline he got away with his zero contribution for years. But the pipeline is pretty much dry and a lot of the creative minds (which perhaps challenged Cook) have been canned. Unfortunately, with the current BOD I expect little, as I do from Apple anymore.

Good comment, in a bus, train, tram or walking down the street we don't want to be heard saying "Siri, Call My Honey" or "Siri Call Jake Meadows" or "Siri, send a message to Joe Blogs, can't meet for for dinner, but later for drinks" Just maybe we need to get used to that! or use the Nickname , like "Siri Call Home" , "Siri Call Best Mate" or "Siri Message JB with be 20 minutes late. Sorry" OR the old fashioned method! True in private we can say what we want, in Public..we either need codes (nicknames we remember) or type it in:)
I think the biggest issue with AI assistants is simply that people aren't comfortable talking to them in public. It just doesn't feel right and I've never seen anyone do it elegantly. Actually I've probably never once seen anyone use an AI assistant on their phone in public. Which is why I only ever use it when alone, if ever. It's useful for asking the time when you're half asleep and your phone is across the room, or for setting up quick reminders. But anything else is just unnecessarily complicated and prone to failure.
