1) It doesn’t have a snoozed mail feature where the mail will come back to my inbox after a designated amount of time.

Apparently GMail did not expose this API to developers, so there's no way for third parties to snooze e-mails.

The only workaround for developers is implement it the way Airmail did - with custom labels and magic. But that means you need to use the same client on all devices, otherwise snooze won't work (ie Airmail on iPhone iPad and Mac).

Since Mimestream doesn't have iOS/iPadOS versions, that avenue is also blocked for them.

Guess I'm going to stick with Airmail, for $10 per year on all devices it's quite reasonable.

I still use gmail, but am getting more and more worried about Google and their data practices so thinking of transitioning to iCloud. Will look into it further
If you're all-in on the apple eco system, it's amazing. The web mail is it's main downfall, it's functional enough in a pinch but if you regularly need to check your email from a windows or android device, and are ok with adding it as an imap to a third part app instead of using the webmail you should be good to go. Otherwise, I really recommend outlook Microsoft has done a great job and it works with apple devices very well.

How well does Outlook handle Gmail? I think it's through IMAP right? Which comes with all its limitations I think as well. Because I have been using Mimestream the past few days since I found out about it through Macrumours and it is definitely closest Gmail desktop experience you can get, especially with offline support as well.

Ultimately, for me, there are two main deal breakers why I don’t use the native Apple mail app.
1) It doesn’t have a snoozed mail feature where the mail will come back to my inbox after a designated amount of time.
2) After finishing an email by deleting it, archiving it, or whatever, it doesn’t take me back to the full list of emails by default to then decide which one I want to look at next. Instead it opens the next subsequent email. If I don’t want to look at that email yet and go to a different email, it marks that last one as “read”. I don’t want that. I have to then select to mark it “unread” and then go to the email I want, Which may be anywhere up or down on the list of emails.

It would be much simpler to just have the native app automatically, after deleting or archiving an email, send us back to the whole list without selecting any particular email so that we can choose which one we want to go to and not have one marked as “read” if we don’t want it to be. I have tried so many different scenarios and currently it’s impossible for this to happen unless they create this feature.

Re point #2, the behavior you desire is possible if you use classic view, which entails opening (reading) every email in a new, separate window. This works extremely well for some people. Others may prefer the 2/3-pane window format (but that introduces the unwanted behavior your mention).

I’m not sure, I rarely use my gmail account. When I mentioned outlook, I meant an @outlook.com address not the Mail client. Sorry!
