Sapphire has been rumored for so long Apple must implement it. Why is of little importance.

Because most of the people in these forums have gone gaga over the idea of a transparent aluminum window on the iPhone. All of the other port entail uses mean nothign to them because they don't understand the technology and they couldn't use the knowledge for bragging rights.

There are numerous uses of sapphire , one of the prime uses of sapphire is in communication chips using Silicon on Sapphire technology to make better insulated high frequency communication chips. Which is another very important uses of tehh material. Why doesn't anyone talk about that ?

Because the majority of people on this forum would have to spend half an hour digesting the above paragraph to even have a glimmer of understanding about what you are talking about. Windows are fairly easy for the feeble minded to understand.

Pretty sure the sapphire is for the iwatch, and the iphone display will remain some version of gorilla glass.

Sapphire is too brittle for iPhone covers, unless Apple or GT devised a manufacturing method to increase it's resilience. Patents were recently filed regarding such a method, but this seems too early to scale the new tech into mass production. iPhone 7 or 8, maybe.

An iWatch will undoubtedly feature a thick Sapphire crystal display, it's the norm for any high quality watch.

Agreed. The current Gorilla Glass provides ample scratch protection for a phone. Sapphire makes sense for a watch, as a watch's display is always exposed, whereas a phone usually sits inside a pocket or purse. Additionally, phones are dropped a lot more often than watches, and sapphire is much more prone to shattering.

suddenly his linkedin profile is gone.....

hmm

While reading the original article I wondered if he took any creative license and embellished it.

Either way I bet he has an interesting Monday at the office.

These sapphire rumours has been up and down more often than Miley Cyrus' underwear.

Apple probably releases counter rumors when something leaks. They can easily "leak" a supply restraint on a part that technically doesn't exist (who knows how easy/hard that part is to create) they've used this tactic before on a few leaked parts on a few different versions of iPhone I think. And then the keynote happens and apples like OF COURSE WE GOT THIS TECH READY! and then in hindsight everyone's like "duh they had this stuff ready" not all rumors are dream weaving vaporware
