From a casual parking lot car show.

^^^ I really like this. Clean and simple. Nice.

^^^ The colors here are good. I like the richness and level of saturation. I like the way the bird is looking to the side. The framing needs to be adjusted. The bird's eye should not be centered in the frame, and there is a little too much empty space on the left. I would crop off some of that which will also pull the bird toward the left of the frame. I would then take just a little off the top to keep a more pleasing aspect ratio.

Sea Anemone...I think...

^^^ Sea Anemone -- yes. The colors here are really good especially since you were shooting through glass. I think the DOF is too narrow. I am having a lot of trouble finding the focal point and my eye just can't find a place to go.

Another shot from the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Bubbles through tank glass.

^^^ I don't know what it is, but it is great as an abstract image.

Here are some attempts from me. Any CnC is greatly appreciated.

Pepper Pyramid: Lacks focus in front of pyramid

^^^ This subject certainly has potential but the execution is not working. It needs either a wider or narrowed DOF. Right now it just looks out of focus. The framing is not doing much for the image. This might have been better shot from a few steps either right or left. The background is a big distraction.

Lighthouse: I like the colors in this one.
^^^ This is nicely done.

A bit of green from the grill of a vintage Austin.

^^^ I would have centered this horizontally. I'm not getting the symmetry of the grill in this image.

Complimentary colors. This could be under the topic creative bokeh, too.

^^^ Great color but I'm having the same DOF issue here as with the Anemone shot.

I don't normally do the fortnightly challenges after not having enough time but I think that this one fits the challenge quite well!

Sharpness was lost on both of these images. The Sea Anemone was 1/15 sec @2.8 in swirling water. No excuse for the flower. I had 1/000@2.8 so I had a lot of room to work with. I will return to this venue, but not within the Challenge time frame.

Thanks for the comments.

Two completely different subjects

I like the detail an the colors of the pool tube things. Not sure about the crop but I see why you went wide. The plate shot looks like something you might see in a museum catalog.

Glad to see you in the challenge Ace. Are you shooting with a digital camera now? This doesn't look like your medium format camera. I like the feel of the pic a lot and what you where going for. My only complaint maybe that the sun is just too bright and it keeps pulling my eye into it.

Thanks. When I moved to Rotterdam I lived in a hostel in this building for a week so I had lots of time to look for shots of it. Pretty much anything you take will look interesting! Rotterdam is a really nice place (I was only there 3 months, but I always want to go back). Tell your friend to enjoy the fall... is he/she moving there for good?

Sorry I didn't respond. I was away for quite a bit. My friend will be there for three years or so. Lives on a canal across from a soccer field. They are loving it right now. I used to live on the border of Holland (in Germany) near Sittard. We loved to go to Maastricht. Wish I had my DSLR there.

The noodles are a repost from the "curvilinear" challenge some time back. I had cropped it this way to emphasize that aspect and I did not have time to redo it. The plate is a museum piece from Cleveland's Museum of Natural History.

Speaking of museums here is a quick snap with the iphone of the Gretsch guitar collection at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Macon, GA. When I saw the red guitar I thought of the challenge.

Great colors on these two images. I would like to see more of the top of the object, but the photo works for me. Maybe this should have just been the Red Challenge...
