thank you..i'm new here
Nice, I wonder how they decide what an illegitimate use would be.
Nice also, good call on the branchA long shot of the dog park near my girlfriends house. I couldn't figure out what to do with the branch, so I just let it be.

I once saw a family having a picnic in the middle of an entrance to a runaway ramp. Seems like a bad place to be picnicking to me![]()
^ The layered feel to this shot is very nice. Winter mountains are hard to shoot. Keeping the contrast without losing the detail in the highlights is something that requires great skill. One thing that I have noticed during this Challenge is how some of the soft, warm landscapes posted in POTD by you-know-who are great in color, but wouldn't stand up all that well in B&W. A B&W shot needs an area of cold black to give it depth. Well framed color shots can get away without that. I would like to see the color version of this if there is one.
My re-submission of the earlier Mt. Rainier shot. Added a bit of post using Adjustment Layers in PS.

I remember this subject in color before and thought it was great. I think it's great in B&W as well. The shadows on the wall are great and I love the perspective. My ony wish is for a more ominous, forboding, and perhaps darker sky above the structure.
I really like this and the contrast is great. I'm a third generation native in AZ and I've never been down to that portion of the State so it looks like I may have to take a road trip. It reminds me of the area around Nowhere.
This shot's amazing. We're taking my daughter to an aquarium this weekend and I only hope I can capture a shot like this.![]()
And another of my favorites from a while back. Jellyfish in the Monterey Aquarium.

I've always liked this pic. There's not enough detail or depth and I haven't gotten great feedback on it but it's one of those pics that I really like personally. I guess that comes from actually being there. This is the Eibsee (frozen of course) in Garmisch, Germany.

Here's a shot I took a few months back since I'm not outside to shoot much these days(even though summer's been incredibly mild so far).

I agree with CK, this really jumps out in B&W. Did you black out the background or with the camera. I know when the conditions are right, like the background is in heavy shadow and you use a really fast shutter you can black it out. Just interested in your technique. Great shot!
