Another older one from Cisco Grove in California. I need to get out and get some new stuff this weekend. It's just too hot here .

Great shot JD, you really captured the feel of the location!

Here they all are! All taken with a Hasselblad 500ELM and Ilford 125HP4 film. Still trying to get some control over the light leaks I am getting!

BTW:
Love this, can I see the colour version?

Very nice group, the light leaks actually give the photos an "older" feel. It looks like your subjects were having a great time as well

BTW Thanks! And as requested

A conversion of one from the "Golden Hour" challenge

an older one, but it's my favourite b&w ...

^ I've seen this around the photo groups before, but I never tire of it. The framing and exposure are great. I love the textures here. They realy work better in B&W than color. Nice.

^ Slow shutter water photos can be very interesting, and you have a great one here. The unusually long exposure gives a mist or gaseous feel to the water.

Fantastic!
Umm, Matt, I'm thrilled that you have earned your avatar. Now find another one... Please.

^ Wonderful visual capture of the emotion conveyed by the statue. Another example of how B&W can be a strong format.

I have been at school all week but I was able to take some pictures hoping that this would be the topic last weekend!

I realise that I have posted a lot in one post but due to the nature of having no computer at boarding school the only time I can upload my images is on the weekends!

I am also loving all the other pictures! Too many to have to quote. I think this has been a really good theme choice as there is so much variety! Keep it up guys!
^ For some unknown reason, I like this one the best. Are the light flares from the camera? How are you scanning the negs? Flatbed scanner?

Note to all. I will be over in Eastern Washington for about a week or so. I should have Internet access, but no guarantee.

Can I do this? I know selective coloring is frowned upon and a bit cheesy, but when I was converting this to BW I noticed only the small plant was changing color, not the rest of the image. Just let me know what you think.

I like the image in general. A bit bland to me but that's just me since I like to do high contrast a lot. The plant in color is a bit distracting to me though. Overall, Good work!

Here is my work. Hopefully 4 isn't too much? This is my first time posting photos on here I think and I just started into photography only a little while ago.

Hot Yoga

I've never been in a hot yoga studio during a teaching session until last weekend. It was close to 110F for a 1.5 hr. session... all my lenses fogged up for the first 5 minutes.

Welcome to the thread, we hope you like it here. The goal of the thread is to give and receive feedback, so if you don't mind I'll share my thoughts.

The first image is very well crafted, you did a great job of using leading lines to push my eye towards the end of the covered walkway. My grief is that the place my eye centers on, the door frame at the end, is not very photogenic. But otherwise, good photo.

The second is great, I like the shot for its simplicity and cleanness. Just the shoe, nothing more.

Photo number three, I love this photograph. The bushes on the sides of the path draw my eyes towards the pool area, but the gate reminds me that I'm not welcome. I find it to be quite pleasing as an image, the only "bug" to me is the thing on the lower left of the image, I find that "thing" to be distracting.

The final image is also quite nice. I like the high contrast on the image, but I dislike the flower in the center, it feels like a bullseye. I'm not huge fan of flower images, but with a slightly off center crop (maybe vertical), this would make a great B+W photo.

Just my two cents... feel free to take it with a truckload of salt.

I am very thankful for your welcome and critique. Theses images are from my recent beginning photography class. I didn't get much feedback from them so I thought I'd enter it into the contests here just for testing myself out as well as get critiqued. The first image is distracting in a way since the end of hallway door is so bright due to the highlights. As for photo number 3, I took the photo and even printed for class and last minute I noticed the sensor. It bothers me as well. As for the fourth photo, That one is my favorite due to high contrast but I, too, notice that it was centered and bothered me as well. But that was my first flower image for class. :). I'm glad you like the ones you did and will take your critique as some advice for my intermediate photo class this coming fall. We finally get to work in color :D.

Nice shot and a pretty subject. There are so many puns here but it's difficult to write something without sounding like a pig :D. Any who, very nicely done though. It captures what the class is about. My only critique is the close crop to her knee. A little more room would be nice but there is another person there. It would be nice if was just the single subject.

Cool shot. The branch on the right foreground and even the grass is a bit distracting. How did this one look in color?

I really have no idea about photography, and have yet to develop an eye,

but here is a color version

Thanks... yeah, it was a decision between a close crop and cropping out the other person... so I had to compromise. :)

Still on the yoga kick...

Since the b/w challenge is about to expire, I'll post several more from my yoga set. I'd be interested in how they come across as b/w shots as compared to their original color (which sometimes was harder to balance due to the crazy lighting and mirrors.)

Thought I would add something with my new iPhone 4 . I think I could've done better in both cases. The little camera (and video) is pretty impressive in the phone. The first is of a plate sitting on our dinner table (indoors) and the second is a dogwood off the back deck at 6:30 in evening shadows. Better light would've worked better for both.

Not to sound weird, but I've never seen a Hot yoga session where people wore so much clothing. That can't be healthy, lol.
