Nice composition and exposure. Shooting into the sun is something that I find hard to do. The flare of the sun is good. Is that a lens effect? Flares seem to be one of the things L lenses do better that others. I noticed you shot this in Manual with Evaluative set fort the metering mode and looked this up. Evaluative metering mode uses all of the focus points available for reading light. On your Mk III that's 61 points! The 7d has 19 and my XSi only 9.

I shot using Sunny 16 (hence ISO 200, 1/400 sec and f/11) that day. I wanted to play with that exposure since it was sunny and near midday. I also was playing with the various AF setting on the 5D3 to get use to them. In this particular case, I did use evaluative, but the camera chose a center point with 8 group cluster around the middle portion of the center birch and part of the evergreen. I angled myself in such a position to allow only part of the sun to peek through the evergreen. The sun flare came out as it did-I guess the L lens helped. Usually I get that star-burst effect with f/16 or higher. My main AF setting remains the center point like the 5D2, but as I mentioned, I wanted to play with all of the options to see how they performed. I am curious how other 5D3 owners will use their AF system over the next few months while we all get use to the new camera.

Very nice! I love the clouds. They seem fluffy yet menacing.

Here is mine, taken a couple days ago before it started snowing (!) and then raining.
