~220M monthly players, about 30M of which play daily (at least from the numbers I could find in a quick Google search), so I'd assume that at least some of those are kids.
Yeah pretty much one of the most if not the most currently played games. It in itself is an entire ecosystem with different games inside of it. Just because edge lords got tired of saying “I don’t play Fortnite because I am too cool for the mainstream”, doesn’t mean the mainstream stopped playing it.

first two results showed no fortnite at all (steam)
third result showed a listing of Fortnite at #3 based on "peak players" which is completely irrelevant as we're discussing the trend line.
fourth result is a reddit post in r/iosgaming which of course wouldn't have Fortnite anywhere
fifth result shows active player.io which shows Fortnite having active daily players around 1-2 million when no special events are going on and the trend line is going down. Overwatch 2 on active player has around 6-7million active players daily and the trend line is going up. I consider overwatch 2 a dead game so by transitive property, that makes Fortnite dead IMO

sorry, but I did exactly what you did and there's nothing in the top 5 results showing proof that Fortnite is growing and dominating. I know some kids (my nephew included) don't like it when I'm spitting facts but that's just how it is.

anyways, I think I spent enough time on this. onwards.
Wait you were using Steam results? Fortnite isn’t on Steam, it shouldn’t be in the results at all. Many of the most currently played games aren’t on Steam. In fact as of looking at Steam’s most played games results for today, the top most played Steam games don’t even make the top 3 most played games overall.

The top 3 most played games have been locked in for years and rarely do they change. Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite. None of these games are on Steam.

Counterstrike 2 and DOTA 2 usually top Steam, and those games are way behind active players of the big 3 mentioned above.

Notice a trend? Games that are consistently successful don’t lock themselves into a store that takes a 30% cut. That would be a silly decision. They may appear on some stores that take a cut, but they also use their capital to distribute the game themselves. Even on Steam, as I noted, the top two games being Counterstrike 2 and DOTA 2… Those games are Valve (Steam Company) games. If they weren’t, they probably would have started self distributing already.

I wouldnt worry about Epic. My concern is Facebook.
I fully expect them to either piggy back on another alt store or open their own store.
Remove their FB App from the App Store (in the EU anyway, and elsewhere that has "freedom") and force migration on all users.
Then by pass everything Apple has done to enforce privacy and data rape as before.
If that ever happens I'm done with FB and their apps and that includes WhatsApp.
Apple has done nothing except the popup to not share data. The rest was the EU
Well Euros, it's like this--you don't get Apple Intelligence because of the EU, but you do get Fortnite because of the EU, so...decent trade off?
other companies have AI stuff so obviously either apple is lying or they’re doing stuff with the data they’re not allowed to

The DSA prevents Apple from giving their own services preferential treatment, which is obviously how Apple Intelligence is supposed to work. It’s “illegal” only insofar that the EU has declared it so, but otherwise, it’s how they have basically operated since day 1, and it’s what users love about their platform.

Just a pop up? No. Speaking as a professional App developer I can say that it's more than just a pop up and it had nothing to do with the EU. What Apple did was before, and more, than the EU ever legislated.
The EU is a shake down house. Lobbyist paying for legislation. Nothing to do with what the actual people need or want.

I still sort of shake my head at the people who take the side of the government and think it's there to protect them.

This is why I say people in the EU (or EU fans in general) simply hate Apple because it makes too much money and has too much power. It's too "greedy." It's not that they like the EU; they just like that the EU punishes the rich and powerful companies like Apple that they detest simply because of their wealth.

It's all about retribution.

No you got that totally wrong. Why would 448 million people be so petty that they all want to punish rich and powerful companies like Apple purely because of its wealth? I don't understand why you even begin to think that.

The EU, and people within, doesn't want to be punitive on the contrary, it is about freedom, security and justice without internal borders, the well-being of its citizens, and much more as outlined in the Lisbon Treaty.

There is nothing about retribution, on the contrary its aim in the wider world are to contribute to free and fair trade.

I used the AltStore before this EU thing, as that is (or at least was) the only way to play old GameBoy games on iOS.
