I noticed that as well. Love the new layout got familiarized pretty quickly i'd just like to see it be a little easier on the eyes. Other than that I really like it.

Something similar to Yosemite's dark mode would be great! Glad to here that @arn and the team are already investigating one, this has been one of the best transitions i've seen in a long while

It is very very bright.. Like I'm 24 and i turn down the brightness on my screen now when visiting the forums..

It was too bright, then it toned down to a more gentle shade, now it is too bright again. Ongoing changes seem to be in good and bad directions.
Ongoing changes seem to be ongoing. Over time they'll work it out one way or another.

… whilst I don't doubt that some people found problems with brightness here, I did wonder whether some combination of other factors – not the design per se – caused the design to be perceived as too bright. …

A few hours later, https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21404534 logged a slight darkening of things.

At https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21438668 (2015-06-06) @Gwendolini compared colours in the forums with colours elsewhere.

Now: this topic has been quiet for three weeks. Some 'shock of the new' may have passed, and so on.

Is it reasonable to assume that readers now are generally happy with the background? Whilst reading this topic, for example.

Hint

If you are logged in and if you have not already tried the button with two diagonal arrows, try it now. In most interfaces, the switch effectively reduces the amount of white space.
