It was slower for me about 1/2 an hour ago but now seems to be back to normal.

This is much better, although if you have a lot of posts per page (User option) the ad at the bottom can still cause some delay.

EDIT: I was on the Forum default, but just went down to 20 posts per page. See how that works.

Buch metter! (was trying to say "Much better!" but decided a typo would be a nice change of pace!) :D

What ad? I've never seen an ad on this site.

Well I'll have to live without 40 posts per page then. The slowest page to load is still my User CP.

I stand corrected.

one of our two forum servers was having some issues. I don't know why.

When I pinged one directly (forum1.xeeno.com), it was fine.
When I pinged the second one (forum2.xeeno.com), it resulted in packetloss.

So depending on which one you were on, you may or may not have seen problems.

I have a ticket open with our provider, but in the meanwhile, I rebooted that server, and seems better.

Sorry... :)
arn

My results were just the opposite, see below:

--- forum1.xeeno.com ping statistics ---
18 packets transmitted, 1 packets received, 94% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 46.570/46.570/46.570/0.000 ms

--- forum2.xeeno.com ping statistics ---
24 packets transmitted, 24 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 45.838/47.020/48.203/0.775 ms

I've noticed that my FIRST click on any of the forums is EXTREMELY slow...so I must be hitting forum1.xeeno.com. If I click again, it pulls up the page VERY fast...almost as if I was now hitting forum2.xeeno.com.

Either way, it looks like you might be having some networking problems still.

Thanks,
Gary

things were good, and then they were bad, and then they were good, and then bad again, and fine now.

its a rollercoaster ride! all aboard.

seriously though, things were bad yesterday, but this morning they were fine, about an hour ago things began to crawl for me again. and now its okay. so weird.

The forum speed issue seems to be fixed for the moment. I had to reload almost every page I tried to get to until about 5 minutes ago when things seemed to come back to their normal snappy self.

Withdrawal is a pain...

I'll second the withdrawl comment. My office is kind of slow this week and checking the forums is about the only thing from stopping me napping at my desk.

Well it looks like work is connecting to MacRumors while I had no luck at home earlier today.

It took me about 20 minutes just to get a post done!

Work and home is dreadfully slow. I know our work network is always slow but now my high speed cable is slow in these forums as well.
Update: Seems back to normal here.

It is much faster for me now. It was very wishy washy earlier this morning. At times it would fly, other times it was unresponsive.

For now, it looks good :D

I give the owners credit as the site was fine even during the iPhone 3G release

I have a friend that owns a 10k member forum and the costs for it are outragous

I can't imagine having enough servers to keep this site running at such HIGH MEMBERS on at once

Seems the problem has reared its ugly head again. Getting 80% packet loss to the forums (74.86.210.200).

232 packets transmitted, 45 packets received, 80% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 44.559/50.041/58.452/3.520 ms

Same here:

10 packets transmitted, 1 packets received, 90% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 58.671/58.671/58.671/0.000 ms

& my second try...

10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

About half an hour ago the forums were crawling for me too, but they seem to be back up to speed now.
