just email the editor of engadget. (or any other major tech website) i dont wanna ruin your hopes but im guessing someone already found this feature and is in the process of having it announced, but you can try.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/7A259g Safari/525.20)

This is a cool new feature!
I'll consider trying it! :)

Does look a little fishy, considering what this guy has already posted. Plus I'm sure this should already be reported elsewhere on the interwebs.

If true, it's certainly more elegant looking than 'squirting'.

Tried MP3, AAC and protected AAC - None work.

I think this kid's parents grounded him for the weekend, probably for acting like a troll. Admins, please ban him.

maybe some of you are forgetting that this ONLY works on 3.0 beta 2, the people complaining that is doesn't work are probably using it on 2.? firmware. This certainly does work and I provided instructions on the first page, how else would I screen capture my iPhone screen saying "Save Song".

Umm... I'm running 3.0 beta 2. I tried it first with an mp3 and then with a m4a and neither of them worked. I held down on the song name and I never got a dialog. I think you're faking it.

I AM on 3.0 beta 2. Does NOT work.

(your 15 minutes are up.)

I am also on beta 2 AND THIS DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. MACRUMORS BEWARE! THIS GUY IS A FRAUD TRYING TO GET CREDIT FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESNT EXIST. BAN HIM! he might be an excellent photoshopper but thats not what these forums are for. heavenlysword, take your lies elsewhere.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried to do it with an mp3/aac that belongs to them? (Bought through iTunes). Maybe it has something to do with linking to the phone's user?

I dragged a file under the purchased playlist in iTunes and attached it to my mail message, so yes it belongs to me. i got the email downloaded the attachment, and when i tried holding it down nothing happened.

I'm not sure about this, since I don't have the 3.0 beta, but if he was using 3.0 shouldn't the sidebar on the iPod with all of the letters have the search icon on the time like in Contacts? If that's true, definitely a fake.

Yes that's correct and in the screenshot, guess what it's MISSING. Haha what a retard the OP is, thought he was so smart. Did you not think others would be running beta2 to check it out moron?

Also, look at the time lapse between both screenshots... Its almost an hour apart. Why would it take an hour to take both screenshot when you claim it could "save on the fly". If it could "save on the fly", you could just take that screenshot and open up ipod to take another screenie of it.

My guess would be that after that 4.24pm shot, you had taken the 1 hour to edit the pic and sync your iPhone just to get the song into the iPod app. :p

EDIT: Compare the OP's ipod app (left) with iphone 3.0 ipod app (right)
