Cool story. Happy she was able to get it back.

You should get a free iPhone 4 now.

jesus, my friend found another iphone, this one looks in worse shape but the screen works, and i guess she's kinda cute, kind of a creepy question to ask haha

the new one needs a passcode, any idea what to do? and it says restore needed what does this mean?

with the passcode there is no way in unless you guess it. The only way to use the phone is to restore it via iTunes, but doing so will remove all the info in the phone and will set it back to the day when it was like brand new - ie, no personal information. So you wont be able to see who owns it be able to contact the owner.

anyways well done for doing the right thing.

Where do you work that seems to have so many leftover iPhones? Any vacancies? lol

It won't respond to anything, it just says restore needed, and the thing on the bottom won't even slide

Nice job OP! Now this is why I post in all those other threads of people guilty of general douchebagery..... Nice to see someone doing the right thing. All you losers writing posts about how you ripped off or are trying to rip off AT&T and/or apple need to read this thread and learn. Here is a guy that doesn't make a ton of money (worked at ski resorts in the past so I know, people don't do it for the money but for the free skiing) doing the right thing instead of trying to line his pocket. Thanks for being honest.

Internet cookie for op

Got it.

Sell it. I made 900 dollars yesterday. Selling it on craigslist. The guy didnt even try to go down.

Not cool. I'll always return any found phone. Losing my first iPhone a month after getting it a few years ago totally makes you realize how much a phone can mean to someone. Also, since the guy didn't try to haggle it automatically means he paid you in fake bills.

I'm glad there are still good people in this world! Props for getting it back to her

Sooooo... you find an iPhone and ask for advice from members here. It's seems the overwhelming majority agrees you should contact the previous owner and they tell you how to find the info on the phone. Then yaaaaay, the previous owner replies to your email and it's assumed you'll be returning the iPhone and all is well. Then suddenly, your friend finds an iPhone as well and you begin asking what to do when it requires a passcode.

I call BS. Sounds like you never intended to return the phone.

You seem to care an awful lot.

Haha i know it sounds crazy, but we find alot of valuable things on the mountain: watches, vip passes, iphones, ipods, etc.
I'm on the trail crew (we cut down trees and bushes so the ski runs are smooth in the winter) and they just let us on the mountain because the snow is finally gone so we are finding things left and right, believe what you want i'll let you contact her if you want and ask about it, i have nothing to hide
