If devices like this were made in America, where checks are thorough, security is tighter and corporate espionage/knockoffs aren't as prominent perhaps this wouldn't have happened. Perhaps.

I'm assuming these were purchase to sell pictures to sites like this and to resell to accessory manufactures to help with their cases. Something that would still take place if the iPhones were made in the USA.

So not 1 of the 100,000 Americans putting togeather iPhones at crappy wages wouldn't of been able to have sneaked out with some shells and sold them to a high bidder?

This is bound to happen when you have 100,000 workers doing something, and btw I am pretty positive America has much more strict laws restricting intensive searches than China does when it comes to factory work.

This poor guy... Stealing is wrong but I'm pretty sure his consequence is going to be bad (and he may even /himself).... he *probably* only did it because of the lure of a few extra bucks... $960 may seem like little to us, but it's probably a LOT to a foxconn worker.

What gets me angry is not the stealing part. I also work for a company that supplies parts to various other technology companies, and to me it's a matter of personal pride that none of these parts or even customer prototypes leak out. Whenever I see a leak, I feel like someone is giving everyone in the business a bad name and is making us all look stupid.

On the other hand, I guess the difference is that I actually work in a kind of job that I can take pride in, while I can understand that Foxconn workers are not able to generate a lot of emotional investment in the product they are building.

What people fail to understand is that the wages are probably 2x-3x greater than most other jobs in their country. That's why you see thousands of people lining up when they are hiring. To the average American, minimum wage is slave labor. To those workers, even $1-$2/hr is big money.

Dear Foxconn

If you paid your workers more they would tell anyone who asks them to steal to go **** themselves. They would value the secrecy.

I agree with you but we need to realize if they paid higher salaries they would pass the cost on to consumers, not lose profits. Hello $1800 iPhone.

Be ready we are about to hear a bunch of balony about how this wouldn't of happened in America :p

Then the rumor sites would pay more. And some people would do it just because they feel it's cool to be the source of some Internet rumor.

Out of the 1000000000000000000000000000 photos, they detain one guy?

Punish one and put fear in others` minds.... just like how IRS works.

If they paid more than 1$ per hour, and people didn't have to work like slaves, They wouldn't compromise their morals for 1000$... Well at least more of them...

If you paid 4 times for the device you used to write this with, maybe....

All the more impressive that the watch wasn't leaked.
You do realise that the watch is most likely not in production yet...so it would be pretty hard for any factory worker to steal parts that are not there...

The current Foxcon worker makes about 400 a month supposedly so if we doubled their wage to 800 or even tripled it to 1200 the cost of the iPhone might up 100 dollars (that is a high estimate).

It might be in Apples best incentive to raise their workers wages (it allows them to afford what they are making ;) basically putting money back into the company, also many in China who are coming into middle class might see Apple as a loyal brand for their progressive take on workers rights/pay.

It would probably come out to $100 in labor vs $5. Apple could easily absorb that. An there would be 1.5 million jobs in the US (who will be able to afford that shiny new phone sold by Apple).

Who cares?

An EXACT and pretty much perfect replica was shown of on the youtube channel of Marques Brownlee back in MAY.

We knew exactly how the iPhone will look like in every detail for half a year, this guy stole his first rear shell in july. :roll eyes:

I think his actions were instrumental in creating a "must have" frenzy for the iPhone 6 and as a result, the record 4M sales figure.

If anything, I think the guy should be rewarded with 1 YEN per iPhone sold. Write it off under "advertising costs".

You need to explain that to Wall Street investors. Good luck with that.
