Hello- I am a high school student in search of a new laptop. After much thought, I decided I want a new Macbook Pro. However, I want to know when the next major revision (design, processor, RAM, etc.) will occur so I don't buy something now and have it become obsolete in about a week. Could anyone give any advice on if I should buy now or wait?

Well, no one can really say. I think it's to be expected, but would you really need the extra power, if you're a high school student? You'd be getting a free iPod touch here, which you could sell on, thus you'd be saving a fair bit more. They normally do this deal to push iPod inventory, but I don't think the same applies to the computers. Not too sure about that.
It wouldn't become obselete, I'm sure the countless amount of people using older macbook pros would agree there. They're powerful laptops, they'll last.
Well, they've been doing them for a while now, so I guess no reason to worry, should be around for quite a while.

Now that WWDC is over...
Was WWDC the only time at which Apple was going to announce a refresh of the Macbook Pros this summer... or is it still possible that we'll see an announcement in July?

There will be an announcement but I doubt it will be in July, since Intel's Montevina platform has been delayed until at least mid-July. I would figure on new 'books in August at the earliest, more likely September. And it could be later if Montevina is delayed further.

lemme know if your job offers are 10x as much as mine are lol. yea my tuition at Colorado State was about 3500-4000 a year
so i'm debating between the maxed out macbook or the basic macbook pro cause the only differences would be the multitouch track pad, a 7200rpm hard drive, and a better graphics card. (both would have 2.4ghz cpu, 4gigs ram) is it worth it to wait and see if the macbooks are upgraded to add the multitouch track pad and a 7200rpm hard drive/ssd? (i have to order by august 13 for college.) or should i just go for the macbook as it is now? it's a 600 dollar difference. (idk what i'm majoring in, but i'm thinking math/comp sci/physics/engineering areas)
The biggest thing is the dedicated graphics. If you need it, go Pro.

Lol. Must suck to have higher tuition than a majority of med schools. Hope your job pays well or your parents are paying your tuition otherwise those loans might hurt a bit.
actually, that's only a little above average for most private, 4 year schools, as far as i know.
Hence why I was hoping the job pays well, because I am at medical school and tuition is horrendous. I don't know why anyone would put themselves through that unless it was already paid for by scholarships or parents. Otherwise, those student loans might be a little difficult.
on the apple website it states that if you are an employee of a K-12 public or private school you also can get the rebate. So doesn't this mean that anyone could just find a local school by zip code on the apple website and say that they are a teacher and then buy a computer? I have used my mom's teaching discount before with no problems.
