In the past, these deals were only available if you bought from an Apple store or Apple online, is that correct?

If so, I'd rather buy from a reseller, saving at least $100 from the initial cost and up to $200 in taxes, which is ultimately a better deal than a 8GB iPod Touch which is only $180 at Amazon.

Plus a student discount from Apple.
Some places have Apple Stores but not resellers.

Mostly unrelated, but last summer, Amazon sold the base 13" MBP with an 8GB 2nd Gen iPod touch for $1200 shipped.

From Apple with student discount, was basically the same price once you included taxes.

($1099 MBP + $229 iPod touch)*1.0825 (taxes in Texas)- $229 (Rebate for iPod)= roughly $1208

If you wanted the free printer too, then of course you would have to order from Apple.
