I bet that in a month or so we start to see some free DRM-less 256 tracks. Why not?

Waaaaaaah!: Don’t cry, now their music is free!

Waaaaaaah!

Welcome to the Waaah/Bring On Bull website. It was a long time ago and we're not doing records or fanzines anymore.

All songs from the label are now available for download. Below is a complete catalogue of all the releases. If anyone wants copies of anything still in stock then all you have to do is pay for postage and packing. E-Mail me richard@bubbyworld.com.

Today's Descarga Gratis Canción de la Semana is the first song I've seen with genre Tropical. Is that new? Maybe I just never ran into Tropical songs before.

I think I have one or more songs in my library (might not be iTunes downloaded though). Will check.

Just one song from the Merc-Benz Mixed Tapes. That's All Folks

I discovered on billboard site

Hi everyone,

The free downloads of the week are always a pleasure to downloading. :)

But today May 4th 2007 I discovered on www.billboard.com that they are promoting the Billboard Latin Awards 2007.

11 songs for free from finalists of the Billboard Latin Awards.

Check the site

San Diego Soundscape

The San Diego visitor's bureau is promoting local San Diego artists. There is a sweepstakes where you can a trip to San Diego, an iPod, T-Shirts or a San Diego Soundscapes double-CD. After filling out the form you can download the 22 songs on the CD for free:

If you don't want to fill out the sweepstakes form you can go straight to the download page:

Half are amplified and half are unplugged. Enjoy!

I can't get the billboard downloads to work. I tried filling out the info in Firefox and IE.

No SOTW or DD yet this week... maybe there's a delay because they will be DRM-free :)

They're up now.

Also, I still can't get that form to work on the Billboard thing. Can someone do it a second time for me to my email?

Well, I guessed right that free-DRM-free would be coming. Looks like we get at least one free iTunes Plus track this week :) (Or you can choose non-Plus to save space if you prefer.)

EDIT: The DD "Lightning" is the same as last week BUT it now DRM-free. And when I added to cart (I got no duplication warning) it just wasn't there when I looked. So I clicked Get Song again--this time there WAS a dupe warning, but it did go in my cart. And showed as $1.29 rather than free :eek: I think I'll wait and buy my cart after they sort it out. Luckily, I don't like the "Lightning" song anyway :)

The SOTW and CDLS are not (yet?) changed to Plus. There's also a free music video this week (apparently not DRM-free).

Today's free tune, "Ooh La" by The Kooks, is the first free iTune to be offered in a DRM-free format.

Let's compare it with the song "I Got More" by Cole Deggs & The Lonesome, which was a free tune on April 23.

Both songs are 3 minutes and 28 seconds long.

I Got More (DRM)
Time = 3:28
Kind = Protected AAC audio file
Size = 3.3MB
Bit rate = 128 kbps
FairPlay = Version 2
Ooh La (no DRM)
Time = 3:28
Kind = Purchased AAC audio file
Size = 6.6MB
Bit rate = 256 kbps
FairPlay = none
As advertised, the bit rate and file size are doubled and no DRM applies.

Cool.

Last week's DD Plus (which is not an underwear term) must have been a glitch. It's still Plus but no longer free.

Speaking of glitches, some this week's freebies aren't showing as free yet. Always seems to take them time to sort out free songs :eek:

EDIT: There are TWO DIFFERENT performances of the same song (neither Plus) for the DD this week--with varying titles and from different albums. Both downloaded successfully for free from my cart. They do sound similar and are the same length, but they don't sound the same, and have different album art.

The other one is:

Goldberg Variations, BWV 988: Variation 1 a 1 Clav.

Album is Bach: Goldberg Variations (Zenph Re-performance)
Track 2 of 64

Two DDs in one week--a record? :) Throw in the free video and it's 5 songs free this week.

EDIT 2: When I click the DD link here I see just one free version (I'm sure they'll fix that). When I click the DD banner from the Classical page, THEN I see both freebies.

Catch-22

Last month, iTunes had a free download of the first chapter of the audiobook Catch-22 (the name was “Catch-22: Free First Chapter”). It wouldn’t play on my iPod, so I downloaded it again. Then I got frustrated and emailed iTunes support. Tonight, they emailed me back and said they corrected it; I redownloaded it, and now my iPod plays it. Guess the file was borked.
If anyone downloaded the free chapter of Catch-22, I strongly suggest you download it again.

Yep, I got 11 too.

Weird--it's the first time I checked my Facebook email in months, and right on top is today's free song sampler.

I think the codes are one-use though. You have to get your own.

For some reason, they have the book listed under "Kids & Young Adults". I think the book is a masterpiece, but I didn't appreciate it until I was an adult.

Bebo is giving a free track every Saturday on the UK iTunes store. You don't appear to need a Bebo account to download the track so I will start adding them to the list

You can also get free credit for 1 track by adding that profile as a friend.

I was grabbing free video stuff for lunch today at the mall, and I saw a new FREE on iTUNES link. I don't know, but the link I see from Doctor Q shows 2 pages, but this new one has 4 pages of television content.
TV Shows - FREE ON iTunes page

Hopefully that's useful to someone. ODDLY, "Scott Baio Hires a Life Coach" has a release date of tomorrow (but I'm still not downloading it). :) GREEK appears to be getting some nice reviews though. Overall, the list is kinda old, but nice stuff in general. I recommend DIRT if you've not seen it yet.
