Nice Christmas gift Apple!:D

I just finished watching the new Battlestar Galatica available on iTunes and it is in wide format. Now if they can just put everything else in the same format on iTunes.

Anyone who likes the SNL skit should know that it's done by three dudes who previously ran this website:
http://thelonelyisland.com/

Theres a lot of quality entertainment on there, including an never aired TV pilot. Once they started working for SNL they stopped producing for that site, but it's still great.

What's with the free songs?

When I click any of these, they are $.99

I don't usually download the free songs, is there something that I'm missing?

Getting all flushed just thinking about Battlestar Galactica.

*rushes off to download*

*realized that he only has iTunes 5.0 and OSX 10.3.8, dangit*

*remembers that he has Dial-up only, dangit*

:(

How long will the freebies be up for download?

this sucks why do you need a credit card to buy ****, especially when its free
You need an account because even the free stuff is handled as a "purchase". But I think it can be set up with a credit card, funds from PayPal, or a gift card (which can be purchased from Apple or a retail store).

Using a credit card is an advantage for people who have one because:

(1) Nothing is charged to your card if you "buy" only free music and videos.

(2) You can edit your account later and remove the credit card information if you don't want Apple to have it on file.

Interesting. The video files don't appear to be protected like the songs are.

Both of my free video downloads are listed as "Protected MPEG-4 Video File."

Hur-Ray!!! FREEE STUFF!!! i agree they should have it world wide and make it so people can watch shows from other countries. Sounds like a plan :p

Weird. Mine are not "Protected." It just says "MPEG-4 Video File" for me.

Battlestar Galactica is the best show on TV right now*, so this should great news, especially with the new episodes coming up.

But wait a second. Is it high-definition? No…

Is it in a format I can move and play anywhere? No…

Is it reasonably priced? Not really.

Is it available to non-US residents? No…

I guess I'm skipping it. Thankfully, the generosity of others allows me to acquire my weekly BG fix elsewhere, and it meets all the requirements above. I'd happily pay 50¢ to $1 for the above, but the TV industry is still circling its wagons instead of innovating.

* Well, that and Lost.

I know this is going to come as a surprise to you people there at MacRumoUrs; but not everyone with an iPod lives in the USA.

Yes, it's true. So please don't write like they do.

When talking about the iTMS, define WHICH version you're talking about, eh?

And stick some U's in a few more words.

strong start?

Not the best content for a strong start, but still a start nonetheless. I hope different networks will start alternating makining thier actual shows available for free.

I am not typically a USA rah, rah kind of guy, but when you start attacking our use of U's, that is when I've had enough. I'll exorcize my use of U's when U people start using Z's!
:p

I'd be flat broke if they started offering every episode of The Simpsons, or South Park.

Hooked on Phreeonics!

The free songs are what hooked me on buying all my music from iTMS in the 1st place:D

Now i'll be hooked on the videos.....I wonder if they have scrubs!
There goes more money!:(

is there a site where these are reposted for us intl folks?

hey there,

another canuck here. does anyone know of a site where we can dload these?
it's not that i'm after something really free, but i've been very interested to check out the quality of the itunes videos (which i'm sure is amazing).

Cheers,
Keebler

PS. merry Christmas!

I'm stuck in a loop...

OK American TV show makers, listen up - here's the deal. I am a British citizen, but for some unknown reason I actually like some of your shows... Despite the high quality of the BBC's output, I seem to identify better with American teen/20-something characters than victorian buttlers...

So c'mon gimme Lost - and whilst you're at it, why not American Dad, Family Guy and The O.C...? I'm fed up of stealing it :(

I'm a big Galactica fan, but I missed the end of the fall season... so I'll have to hang onto this clip until I catch up... via iTunes or Netflix.

Sounds like just publicity mainly, but at least it's a show that deserves some! I could read the thread and find out... but no spoilers for me.

We here in the USA will probably get the same sort of messages when you end up getting "Dr. Who" and we try downloading from the UK store...
