Just went to my local post office to see if the Mover's pack had updated Best Buy coupon. 10% off a single item. Saving $130 off my base model.

Yes. My plan for next Friday is to head north to a mall that has both an Apple Store and a Best Buy. If Best Buy has the 1.1/256, that's perfect. The only thing that might twist me up a bit is if the Apple Store has the 1.3/256 in stock, in which case I have to think about whether I take a $330 (guessing) bet on the extra 0.2 gHz.

How does giving a heads up on saving $130 make this the worst thread of the day?

Did you read the very first term of the coupon?

"Excludes Unilateral Minimum Resale Price (UMRP) products"

Apple is a UMRP product. The only discount Apple allows authorized dealers to provide is for legacy\clearance models, and Education discount not to exceed that of Apple's edu discount.

The USB-C dongle isn't free. The Macbook is a URMP product, therefor the coupon doesn't apply, but even if it did, the coupon doesn't make the adaptor free. You pay for it regardless, you just would get less of a discount on the computer buying them and using the coupon. Ugh.

The movers pack coupon will 100% work. I've used it before on macbooks with zero issue.

I've only used one of these once, but I didn't have any problems using the coupon. Plenty of people have posted over the years that they have used these coupons on computers. I hope Shenan1982 is wrong about whether the coupon can be used - doesn't add up with my experience, unless there's been a recent change in BB's terms. I have to say I never read the fine print before. ;)

I did read all the terms and conditions and went to the store to verify and was told it could be used.

100% ehh? Your personal guarantee? LOL. It's always worked on the clearance models, but I've tried many times on the current models, and they always say the same thing. Prices are fixed by apple and no discounts except edu allowed.

Your experience is the first that I've heard about (I'm not doubting you, but your experience appears to be an isolated incident). The only restriction that I've seen is the inability to stack the mover's coupon with other discounts.

Judging from a long history of posts here, even that seems to work - sometimes. I know for a fact that Best Buy's registers will accept that (or did as of a year ago) because I've done it myself. But there are lots of posts in various places at MR complaining about service reps and managers who wouldn't do it.

My current plan is to go to a mall that has both an Apple Store and a Best Buy, partly because I'm still thinking about the possibility of a CTO machine if the Apple Store has any in stock. If Best Buy were to refuse the coupon, I'd give them the computer back and go back to Apple.

You can purchase these coupons for a few bucks on eBay. I used it on an open box Macbook Pro. MGX82 version for 970. Not bad.

Yeah, my plan is to use one of these and then take a 40 min drive to a DE Best Buy and save on tax. So, should save $130 with coupon and $90 on tax. Pay $1,170 instead of $1,390.

I am thinking of using one of these coupons but was wondering if we have confirmation that best buy will be getting a shipment on the 10th ? Have they in the past gotten new macbook's on release day ?

Have been wondering the same. I asked them on their forum and they won't answer. Well he answered, but was not able to give an answer, which leads me to believe that's a yes. Even if it's a few days later, no big deal.

That's what I'm wondering as well. Will they have them the day of.

Personally, I have no idea - that's why I'm going to go somewhere where if BB doesn't have them I can walk down the mall and duck into an Apple Store. ;)

Went to the one closet to my job as I was pre-ordering a Galaxy S6 and the rep in the Apple area stated they would have them launch day. Was trying his hardest to talk me out of it though.

and why was he doing that? Trying to sell you a model today to get his commission?
