Above the poster does say that is trying to get OS X onto it but his mac nedds a firmware update that can only be done from OS 9.

Ahh, yes. I forgot about that. Man, that sucks.

Well.....once you get OS 9 on and do the firmware upgrade, THEN update to OS X.

Oh yeah I knew there was a real pisser in there........What he said!

OK, well I got it all installed and booting but now the damn thing says it's missing the InterfaceLib--SetEmpdyRgn file.....I am comletely lost.....AGAIN! LOL, can someone help?

Quite honestly, OS 9 is not this hard to install, I install OS 7, 8, and 9 several times a year, even in 2007.

Do you have a legitimate OS 9 disc? It's usually as easy as, like, putting the CD in, formatting the drive, double click Mac OS Install and let it do it's thing.

I can't fathom what you could possibly be doing it's such a simple process. But you can try these things:

  1. First, get the damn CD out! Hold down the mouse buttn when the computer restarts until it spits the CD out.
  2. Second, reset your PRAM, by shuting the computer off, holding down Command + Option + P + R, and turning it back on (still holding these keys) until it restarts itself a second time.

That's pretty much it. Installing OS 9 is really straightforward and easy, you shouldn't be having problems like this.

No offense but you've obviously not read the whole thread......

Well then still no dice....I did the partition at 7.3 and still it won't boot to the hard drive, I am totally stumped and not liking my initial mac experience so far....

That crazy partition scheme has absolutely nothing to do with Mac OS 9, so that doesn't explain why Mac OS 9 isn't booting correctly. Mac OS 9 will address drives in excess of 100gb if it has to (so long as your system can handle one).

I read the entire thread and I didn't see a single person mention PRAM. And the CD thing is a tip just in case you get it stuck again - you can get them out by holding down the mouse button.

No offense, but this simply isn't how installing Mac OS 9 usually goes. So if you're missing a file, after installing the OS several times, then something is either wrong with your install CD, wrong with your hard drive, wrong with the way you are doing this, or wrong with your computer. So the last thing I can recommend is you try it over one more time. Forget about partitioning it for only 7gb and all that nonsense. Make one huge partition for your entire drive, make sure it is HFS+ format (also called Mac OS Extended), and install OS 9's recommended install onto the drive.

Those are the three steps for a normal Mac OS 9 installation. If after doing those three things you still have problems, then I bet your OS 9 CD is bad.
