Just wanted to know others thoughts after downsizing from the plus to the original sized iPhone. Are you missing your plus? Are you happy with the size of the 4.7"? Just curious to know how others are transitioning after I traded my 7 plus for the 8.

I went iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone 7 (jetblack).
The adjustment went pretty smooth, only 3 things took a bit longer;

- the 1080p screen of the Plus I really miss and you can really see the difference
- the smaller keyboard of the non Plus i like really tiny compared to the Plus model
- in the begining of the switch you could probally laugh sometimes at starring at such a small screen

I went from 6s Plus to 7 and regretted it. The smaller size in the hand and pocket was not nearly enough to compensate for the short battery life and lower res screen. I should have exchanged it for a 7 Plus while I was within the return period, but at least now I have an 8 Plus and it feels much better. I’m hoping for an X Plus next year.

Yes, I've noticed that as well. I find myself missing the size of the screen but I don't miss having such a huge phone to hold with my tiny hands. It's funny because when I first transitioned to the plus it was hard for me to type as I felt like I had to sort of overreach in order to reach the keys and now that I've downsized I find myself having to underreach.

oh yes, the weight of the iPhone 7 was very welcomed again after switching from Plus to non-Plus.
In fact, it would be one of my biggest advantage of my switch

Yes I agree. It's so nice. Now when I'm out running errands and I'm on the phone I won't be so annoyed with having to hold my phone haha. The plus got so heavy and was just very uncomfortable for me to hold but there is no denying the fact that I will miss the larger screen and the depth effect on the camera. I can get over the lower resolution screen as I still think the 8 offers a great resolution and I don't really notice a difference unless I am looking really close at the phone screens.

My advice would always be unless you find the plus size phone to be unwieldy it is always the phone to get between the two. For battery alone almost, think about it plus owners, I never worry about running out of phone battery ever. I plug it in overnight, start the day with 100% and that’s it until the next night, essentially no matter what I do.

I unplugged my 8 today at 7:30am. It is now 9:19 and I am on 11%. Definitely a lot lower than what my 7 plus gave me but I'm not worried about my battery because I plan on buying the apple charging case. I like the way it feels and it charges my phone so that's always a plus! Other than that, I am always by a charger so that won't be an issue for me. Especially now since quick charging is an option.

The new optional one-sided keyboards on the Plus are actually easier for me to type one handed with than the 7 keyboard ever was. I almost always used two hands with the 7 for typing anyway.

Really? I am perfectly comfortable using one hand on the 4.7”. I do love that Apple added the one-sided keyboards though. Great for people with smaller hands!

I could type one handed on the 7, but two handed was faster of course and my preferred method. Doing single handed typing, I find the new single sided keyboards to be better for me than the full size 7 keyboard.

it's actually just faster charging, not quick charging. You were aware of that?

Oh is it not the same thing? I thought they were the same thing. I'm referring to what I believe was a 50% charge in 30 minutes? I might have my numbers wrong but I thought that's what I read. Thanks for the clarification by the way.

Just a small note, tge original iPhone screen size was 3.5 inches.

Yes, fair but when I say original I am referring to the 4.7" model since Apple no longer sells the 3.5" model and the plus is referred to as the plus so I found it easier to call the regularly sized phone original. Maybe I should just call it the regular sized iPhone.

I sometimes use my wife’s 6S for extended periods and it’s not a big deal.

My screen size shrank dramatically which I ditched the Galaxy S2 on Sprint which had a 4.52” screen down to the iPhone 4S which had a 3.5” display. Wasn’t even remotely a big deal.

You mentally adapt to the screen size pretty quick.

If I had to use the SE suddenly for whatever reason I’m sure I’d be just fine.

Yes you’re absolutely correct and I’ve found this out over the past 24 hours. Since I’ve been using the regular sized phone now when I pick up my plus, which I’ve used for a year, it seems gigantic. Hard to believe I carried it around for a year.

Fair enough, I’ve been mulling this decision over myself and am leaning towards staying plus sized, but would appreciate an 8’s compactness next to my iPad Pro. I am anti-battery case - why bulk up the phone when there is already a bulkier more streamlined option?

I also feel I could very easily get by with the smaller battery, Qi charger on my desk at work, charge it up on the way home from work, Qi charger on the nightstand at night. Fast charger to hook up to when I hop in the shower to get ready for a night out, I could make it work.

I also have 2 kids under 2 and have my portrait mode pictures adorning the homes of grandparents, don’t see not needing this feature anytime soon.

Which color did you go with? My annual upgrade is 10/22 and I’m still undecided.

It's cool, call it however you like, I was just making a small comment. Nothing too serious. :)

I agree. I love the form factor of the 4.7 iPhone, as it does feel good in the hand. Although, the trade-off is the battery life on iPhone 4.7 , as it's not nearly as strong as the Plus. And the way applications and usage of iPhones are intense today, battery life is crucial.

My first iPhone was a 6 for about 3 days, before returning it for a 6+ as I was having issues with being nauseated from using the 6, I've been using a 5.5 Inch iPhone now since 2015, no issues, and weird part is I use to have a HTC One M7 I think, which was a 4.7 Inch phone, loved it, but then I went with a Note 3, then tried the 6, couldn't do it.

I think I'd be dumb to go from 7+ to an 7 or 8.
