I went from 6s Plus to 7 and regretted it. The smaller size in the hand and pocket was not nearly enough to compensate for the short battery life and lower res screen. I should have exchanged it for a 7 Plus while I was within the return period, but at least now I have an 8 Plus and it feels much better. I’m hoping for an X Plus next year.
X Plus you say? That’ll be $1200 for the 64GB model please. Thank you bye bye.

I can't believe people are still having these discussions after 4 generations of 4.7 and 5.5 phones.

I think it is a interesting thing too. I have made the switch at least 5 times now between those form factors, but I am always coming back to this forum for other’s perspective...even though I know exactly all the differences. I think there is some deep rooted psychological issues with phones addicts like myself :). Kidding of course, but it is interesting for sure.

I’ve only had the 6S+ since the iPhone 6 to 8. I don’t really know how the 4.7” is to live with. I haven’t handeled a regular iPhone for more than 5 minutes straight. Coming from a Note 3, I’ve really gotten used to the big form factor but would enjoy a smaller footprint. iPhone X is high at my wish list, but it’s probably gonna stay on that list until next year when my 6S+ starts to feel dated and due for an upgrade.

As always, there seems to be mixed opinions about 'regular' versus 'Plus'. I am still using my original 5S. Although I would appreciate the bigger screen for web browsing, when I have held the 'Plus' phones in store, they have just seemed too big for my liking (I am only 5ft 2" in height & have small hands!). Really hoping that iPhone X (which I plan to buy), will be the 'Goldilocks' phone!

Fair enough, I’ve been mulling this decision over myself and am leaning towards staying plus sized, but would appreciate an 8’s compactness next to my iPad Pro. I am anti-battery case - why bulk up the phone when there is already a bulkier more streamlined option?

I also feel I could very easily get by with the smaller battery, Qi charger on my desk at work, charge it up on the way home from work, Qi charger on the nightstand at night. Fast charger to hook up to when I hop in the shower to get ready for a night out, I could make it work.

I also have 2 kids under 2 and have my portrait mode pictures adorning the homes of grandparents, don’t see not needing this feature anytime soon.

Which color did you go with? My annual upgrade is 10/22 and I’m still undecided.

Yes that’s my only qualm about downsizing was the extra camera features. I loved having depth effect however I’m sure there’s an app for haha.

I went with the gold color which is very pretty and elegant looking however I loved all of the color options this year. I loved the white looking back of the silver and the grayish looking back of the space gray.

Well of course because even after 4 years not everyone has had a plus. My 7 was the first plus I’ve had therefore this is my first time downsizing. Circumstances change often and are based on personal experiences which I felt I wanted to discuss as well as a few others so feel free to remove yourself from the discussion .

It's cool, call it however you like, I was just making a small comment. Nothing too serious. :)

Yes I didn’t take it in a negative way at all. Thanks for the clarification actually as I can see how that could’ve caused some confusion to others!

How can the plus screen be better resolution or noticeable when Apple uses "retina" displays?

They both offer retina displays however the plus has a higher screen resolution than the regular sized phone. I don’t notice the difference that much if I’m being honest unless, like I mentioned previously, I look really closely at my phone for the pixels. But when I’m looking at my phone just regularly both of the screens look great to me. I don’t have the clearest vision so I’m sure that has something to do with it as well haha.

I had a 6plus went to a regular 7 (love the form factor) but have been toying with the idea of getting a 8+. Im trying to remember the feelings i had when i thought the 6+ was too big but am still drawn to the 8+ for some weird reason.

Couldn’t agree more. I remember vividly how much I hated how big the plus was for me at times and what a hard time I had using my phone at times which is why I chose to downsize. I am on day 2 of my 8 and I find myself missing the bigger screen but I am much more comfortable holding and carrying my phone now. I have super small hands and wrists so it was a lot more of a hassle for me. Apple told me I have 14 days if I decide I do want to go back to the plus but at this point I don’t think I’ll be taking them up on that offer.

i just tried the new way to type on the keyboard on the right or left side of the screen on my (regular 7) i havent taken advantage of that feature yet. I don't really need to do that on the reg 7 but i may go later and try it on the 8 plus. That could be a huge determinant for me on the 8+!

Yes that will definitely make it easier for people to use their pluses and I think that was a great feature for Apple to add! I personally just still think the phone is too wide for me to hold on a day to day basis. I think I said to myself at least once a day I can’t wait for my upgrade so I can have a smaller phone again for that reason alone I feel like going back to the plus would be silly on my part haha

To me the plus seems the normal sizes iPhone after almost two years of using the 6S+. But I still remember the adjustment coming from the regular 6. The one thing I don’t like about the Plus is the weight & the further additional weight of the 8+ is one of the reasons I’ve held off getting one so far. But I can’t imagine going back to the regular 8 as it would just feel too small.

Just coming up on a year with the 7 Plus myself - seriously considering going back to the 4.7 size. Screen size + battery is amazing, but I can't comfortably go about my day with this monster phone! Sticks out of my work pants, shorts, etc. Can't comfortably run with it.

I have a family member I can pass this down to, and I need to decide if I'm going to replace with the new 8 or grab a discounted 7. Seeing more spec/performance comparisons between the plus models. I imagine either will serve me well, just tempted by the newness of the 8.

I changed my usage pattern.

- when I had my 6s+ I used it all the time as a primary web browser even at home on the sofa. Felt like maybe I could sell my iPad. But it was too heavy and bulky when I got a new job that meant walking a lot more each day.

- switching down to the 6s I changed to use it more for checking on things during the day (which is fine as I’m out and about), and using my iPad as soon as I get home for the larger screen.

I think I’m settled on this approach now. Iphone for portability, iPad when I need more screen size

I went from 6+ to 6

Haven’t changed since. I want the 8+ strictlyfor the camera but I don’t want a phone that big. The size of the 6/7 is the perfect size in hand

I think that I just need to become content with what I have. I find that I stress over size and specs so much that when I’m done stressing I want the next device then the stress starts again.
