iPhone X From iPhone x to 5 wow!!!

My personal beef with modern iPhones is less about their size and more about their weight. When are they going to make iPhones with lighter materials?

The 8plus is quite heavy I was shocked Compared to 7plus

I like the x weight

As far as form factor is concerned the 5 series is very comfortable to use, and I wish they could’ve engineered a version with a bigger screen in that body or slightly larger. For my tastes the 2013 Moto X was the absolute perfect size for a device. It was slightly larger than the iPhone 5 series, but had a 4.7” screen and just felt wonderful to use. I would buy an iPhone X in that form factor any day. Oh well, still enjoy my iPhone X regardless.

Last night I needed a phone number and I grabbed my 5 again and wow!!!! it is so light!!!! so much technology in such small form. If the 5 had the camera of the X I would be all set. I may return the X today, I still in time to do it. Bulky, heavy buah.

LOL. I had an X for 15 days and returned it.Now, I'm back to my 5S. I have different reasons for returning mine. I actually like the X, but what I really want is an X Plus. So here I wait another year.

i still remember the time when phones got smaller.. and smaller was cool.. nokia 8210 if you remember.. size doesn't always matter..

For smallest, not smartest: Daughter’s fav was a Pantech flip phone, about size of small matchbox. With a solid antenna about a third inch tall.

My smallest, smartest, flattest: Nokia also, 2007 or 2008, can’t recall the number but 1/2 face was beautiful screen above hardware keyboard, awful (for me) Windows-based UI. sold on ebay immediately to buy first iPhone and never looked back.

From a form factor perspective, Steve Jobs had it right that 4” is the biggest size that’s still comfortable. I’d totally consider a smaller iPhone with the X design.

That’s very subjective. I’ve owned at least one of every sized iPhone except the X. Currently using an 8 Plus, and anything smaller just seems so limited now. I used a 5s for a bit recently and the display just seemed so tiny!

In March of last year, I took my IP7 and my IP5s (original) to New Zealand, mainly because the 5 was unlocked and I was able to pop a local sim card in it to be come a "local" boy. Loved the size of the 5, but it was very slow compared to my 7. I was running my 7 either will local wifi or hotspotting from me 5. Last Sept I seriously thought of going back to the new IP5E, but I didn't. I may get the new 5 when it debuts later this year.

There’s no 5E, it’s actually SE. Also there’s no new 5 this year , but possibly an upgraded SE.

Thats ********. the vast majority of people wanted bigger phones, and the plus models sell like crazy too. And there are hella people on this forum alone that have said they can’t wait for an X+

Yep. This forum has become an alternate universe. Combo of people who genuinely prefer the old form factors/waiting for X Plus, and bitter trolls who’ve been priced out of buying pursuing ever more elaborate ways to explain how the X is trash.

I'm not even middle class, so for me, sometimes it's patience. Most of the time it's my tax refund. But I've never been priced out of getting anything I wanted. But I also don't upgrade every year either.

It's just a matter of how much I want something with me and therefore where my financial priorities go.

I know there are some here that represent the comment you made, but I am not one of them. I am just choosing not to buy the X because I don't want one.

My mom uses an iPhone 4.

She's in her late 70s and uses phones…like phones. The 4 can still handle making a phone call and texting quite well and that's all she does.

I have had a 4, 4s, 5C, SE now an iphone X. Of all the phones in that list, I enjoyed the SE and wouldn't have even gotten another phone had my husband not given me an iphone X for Christmas. I seriously love this iphone X. The weight doesn't bother me at all. I am a very small woman and it still doesn't bother me. I do play around with my se from time to time. My Grandson's use the 5C everyday for kids youtube or games. But I always marvel at the screen size on both of them in comparison with the 10. I wanted to return this phone because of the price but my husband told me you do not return a gift. So I am just enjoying it.

Iv Jumped on the latest Apple flagship device every year for as long as I can remember but this was the first time I wasn’t even tempted. If it wasn’t for the X I’d probably of grabbed the 8 but I just can’t get past paying flagship prices for a non flagship phone. The X on the other hand is just too expensive and I’m not quite ready to ditch Touch ID. Also I just can’t get past that notch in the screen. Not sure what caused it, I just though “sod it, I’ll stick with my 7 plus”.

I was in the same boat. I absolutely love my Black 7 Plus. It’s a great phone. I would definitely go down to a 4.5”-5” screen size in a SE body size of it had the same tech as the X. I bought the 10.5” iPad Pro so I can go with a smaller screen phone.

I really want the SE to get an update with a storage bump - 256gb - and keep the size the same, keep TouchID, no FaceID, better processor. I have an iPhone X because of work but I don't like that it's so big, and I can't reach anything 1 handed, and can't get to the control center from the top of the screen. And I don't think FaceID is faster than TouchID nor more accurate or useful at all. Sticking with an SE forever if I must.

I've been flamed for this before, but in my view the iPhone X was noticeably thicker than the 6/7/8 and it felt heavy in my hand. I eventually settled on the 8, having originally come from a 7+.

When I put the 7+ or X in my pocket I could feel it there. When I put the 8 in I can't. Those extra grams/ounces do make a difference.

I'm very bored of people claiming that anyone who doesn't like the iPhone X must be bitter and on welfare.

I agree.

The assumption is that because it's an iPhone and it's the latest and greatest you would automatically buy it if you were not bitter or on welfare.

There's no room for any other reason not to like or buy the phone.

Wasn’t really targeting you at all. I totally agree re priorities and choosing not to buy something doesn’t mean you can’t buy something. I skip most years, and it always amuses me every year to hear how life changing this years is over the previous years, when in reality we’ve been at the point of diminishing returns for years. Equally, there are certain things about the X that would annoy me a lot more if I used it in a different manner, to the point I’d stick with the home button phones a bit longer - chiefly accessing it flat on a desk. Very poor experience, rarely use it that way though so doesn’t bother me.

It’s just this forum has become an utter ****show of innumerable justifications and explanations why people don’t like the X. It’s tiresome and the moaners are of such a high number in this forum, I think a significant portion of them have convinced themselves that this is a representative sample of a wider malaise and dislike of the X. Which is so clearly not the case.

I don't necessarily agree, but I can see your point.

There's always been a number of troll/disgruntled people looking to pick a fight within these forums.

However, I do think that some of the later models of iPhones, as well as some of Apple's decisions lately, have served to polarize some users here more than normal.

Certainly, the consternation over the launch of a new device has lasted well beyond the length of previous years.

What would have been funny if Apple had saved that move for the X. Oh my. So many negatives* bundled together it’d send people into a head spin. Have to assume they did it with the 7 to get the controversy out of the way for the X.

*I’ve been using BT earphones for years, the decreased sound quality and charging has always been massively outweighed by the convenience for me, but I can TOTALLY understand the jack removal being a complete dealbreaker for some.

This is exactly me, so far none of the consumer devices have ever put me in a situation that I need to think twice before buying. But that doesn’t mean I buy anything and everything I see.

Having bought the 8 plus this year and people mentioning about some of the first generation issues with the X, I’m very happy and content to have not bought it this year.

That said, Apple has always done as it felt it needed or wanted to do. It's rare when they do what the customer wants. Apple is more into telling the customer what they want instead of hearing the customer.

The headphone jack was a huge put off for me personally and that’s why I stayed with the iPhone 6 until this year but it was getting a bit long in the tooth and headphone jacks aren’t really coming back now.

Until now I only used Bluetooth headphones during workout but with the 8 plus this year I also took the plunge and bought the AirPods, which makes a perfect combination. Also, these days I’ve fallen in love with podcasts. So sound quality is not a big deal really and the battery life on both the 8 plus and the AirPods is awesome
