Hi,

I want de sell my vega 64 to get a new 5700xt, especially for gaming via windows 10, so, I must install Catalina, and there are various methods to do that, I'm afraid of doing something wrong, can anyone give me some advice or tutorial to do this upgrade in the best way? I'm also a graphic designer and video editor, I think that the 5700xt has the same power as the vega 64 in this field, what do you think? thanks

Be advised it is an unsupported patch tool you will need from dosdude1's website and there is nothing official about what you want to do. Just use google search for it. Heck I think there are details on his site what to do even! Also, gaming on those CPUs is a pretty CPU bottle necked config with the RX 5700 XT, seeing how I had the same exact setup for gaming for a bit. Playing at 4K (or at least higher than 1080) and/or ultra settings will help put more load on the GPU rather than CPU. Of course depends on what games you play and what you want....don't be surprised with like 30FPS in some modern titles

The RX 5700 XT vs Vega 64....one has architecture geared for games, the other has it geared for compute....I'm not sure it is going to be much of noticeable difference for content creator stuff with video and photos. I will be an improvement for games but I cannot comment with confidence it's better for design work. There is potential that is either a lateral adjustment or one that might even perform worse.

thanks man, I think that I'll stay with my vega 64, I'm already bottleneck even with this card, so no need to go with more powerful card.

The best solutions is opencore. Try this:

Just put a 5700xt in my 5,1 today, works great, no issues so far.

I used this Opencore package on my 5,1 before I sold it, worked great on both Catalina and Mojave with an RX580.
