Looking at the advert, it appears that their pasta dishes are just regular pasta with a gigantic serving of mayonnaise. I've always been a Dominos person myself. :)

+1 to both the mayonnaise and the Domino's (Thin Crust). Although I prefer not to go there either, just I'd much rather go to Domino's than Pizza Hut.

Pizza Hut used to be the best pizza back in the day...or maybe my fond recollections stem from being able to bring our own beer to the restuarant because they had no liquor license.:p

Anyway, I don't think their pizza is any worse than Domino's or Papa John's. All the chain joints are the same, although the Hut certainly charges more.

The pasta isn't a wonderful meal, but we've tried both the marinara and the alfredo, and they aren't too bad if you can't be bothered to spend 15 minutes in the kitchen making your own.

I suppose it's to make it seem healthier. But it's a bad choice imo. Whoever went to pizza hut for pasta?? Pizza was their trademark!

I think all of my own fond recollections are from being a little boy and not having to pay for the food :)

Whats wrong with Pizza Hut pizzas? Stuffed Crust pizza is very nice! :)

If you like pretend, greasy pizzas then nothing is wrong with them. I prefer proper ones myself. They're not even as good as frozen pizzas.

A couple of years back in the manchester food court place a friend thought he'd dabble in Pizza Hut. Yea. It cost a ridiculous amount for a "meal" that looked (and according to him tasted) like sick in a box.

Its very nice (Stuffed Crust FTW) and not really that expensive (there is still a £5 buffet deal if I am not mistaken).

Each to their own, I s'pose.

It has a big list of pastas on the page, what are you on about?

Yes, so I see. I want them to continue to sell the pizzas. Wouldn't want to vote for a name change and find the menu changes as well.

I was there the other day. Saw someone get a lasagne. It was rather industrial and gloopy looking!

They will still sell pizzas as well, but start concentrating on pasta.

Just as an aside, there was a thread on here a while back about pizzas and where people liked to buy them. I noticed on there that the ones sold in Pizza Hut in the US didn't seem to be the same as the ones sold in Pizza Hut in the UK which is why I mentioned the thin-based one, sold here as the Italian base.

I remember a few years ago going to a place in San Diego that sold pizza by the slice as their pizzas were the size of dustbin lids!

Yeah, my aunt went to Pizza Hut in America and there was no salad bar like here in the UK. I wonder if they sell Stuffed Crust and Pull-Off Crust there?

They do. I'd sooner just buy a carton of salt and eat it directly, I think it would save me a trip out.

Why are you lot all Pizza Hut haters for?

Does anyone here like Stuffed Crust pizza???

Some people other than me must, or they wouldnt still be on the menu at Pizza Hut.

Because home made pizza or ready to heat (Papa Murphy's, Costco, etc) are way, way better. Heck, not to mention California Pizza Kitchen ... now those are amazing.

because many people can get a bigger, better tasting and cheaper pizza quite easily

and home made pizza is nearly always superior even with pre-made dough

Read back in the thread:

Pizza Hut uses frozen dough for pizza and is not made in store. If you order two pizzas, you will notice the crust looks identical because it is processed at some factory by a machine.

Sauce is from concentrate and never made in store.
Vegies and meat are all cut at the factory and shipped to the store in plastic bags and/or boxes.
Pineapple chunks come in a can, same with olives. Nothing wrong with that really.

Nothing is prepped in store anymore to save on labor costs.

Years ago, they used to have a person come in twice a day to make the dough fresh. They got rid of that and all dough is now shipped in frozen like those frozen pilsbury biscuits you can buy at the store.

Even the butter used on the breadsticks is artificial. The garlic sprayed on the stuffed crust is artificial flavored oil. That stuff will probably kill you one day.

Pizza Hut used to be good, not now.

Don't get me wrong, I have many, many fond memories of Pizza Hut. There's one in my neighborhood and my friends and I always went there as kids and teenagers. It was the favourite family hangout for meals after church, too. I remember a number of birthday parties there.

I also remember very vividly how greasy the pizza was, especially the pan pizzas. As a kid I drank that up (not literally!) as part of the whole experience. As I got older, I began to realize just how junky all that grease and salt was, and just developed a personal preference toward better options. I've found a few local pizza places that make delicious pizza (not necessarily any healthier though) and home-made is even better. But I also find I'm eating pizza less, period, in favour of healthier foods.

I also developed a taste for real cheese, not that processed stuff that all fast food places use in their "cheeseburgers" and such. That's why I don't like the stuffed crust, I find it rubbery, not cheese flavoured, and RIDICULOUSLY salty (but then, a lot of American restaurant food is WAY heavy on the salt).

In short: I've outgrown them.

I find it hard to believe that terrible commercial where they claim to deceive a restaurant full of people with it.

Well, if a waiter asks people eating at a restaurant how the food is, they usually don't respond with "this is horrible, it tastes like Pizza Hut or something." And those that do aren't put in the commercial.

I haven't had a chain pizza for years, and I plan on keeping it that way years to come.

Pizza from small local places is always better than chain pizza, and often cheaper.

I know Pizza Hut is garbage, but I have a soft spot for them. When I was a kid, I used to go through crazy amounts of quarters playing Street Fighter 2 at the local Pizza Hut.

Good times!

They are going the same way as McDonald's. Customers start to drop off so they introduce salad and pasta and all kinds of variety, without fixing the core problem: the pizza/burgers have gotten smaller and more cardboard like over the years.

meh.. the only places i like pasta are when its homemade or carinos.

the whole name change thing seems like they really need some more business..

A stuffed crust isn't going to make up for an otherwise poorly made pizza.

Or alternatively just read what hexonxonx had to say.

Incidentally our nearest Pizza Hut and KFC have just shut down. We're down to just 2 MacDonalds now, hopefully the trend will continue.
