Honestly, I'm surprised they aren't just laser etching this stuff into the case.

As someone who has dealt with printing in the past (MICR toner, in my case), I know that all sorts of chemicals can cause the binding to fail between the ink/paint and the surface it is applied to. This will come down to one of two things:
A) specific adhesive(s) that bond to the ink/paint better than it bonds to the surface
B) a QC issue that will end up being resolved

Either way, it's a purely cosmetic issue that can't be used to void a warranty. If you really want the labels on your phone, try exchanging it (and don't use the same skin again). If you *don't* want the labels on your phone, congratulations, you have a way to do that without harming the finish.

Same thing happened with my iPhone 7 Plus in Matte Black...the logo stayed and the other info is faded...I took my D-brand skin of and some of that ink was on the skin.

I think that's actually really awesome! A cleaner non-branded iPhone looks much better. (My first comment on MR, woo!)
One problem. I collect electronics, like Sony 60-70's tvs. Collectors would not touch product without all markings. I have ti be honest- you guys who think this problem is cool pobably are afraid to confront Apple, they owe 23 more payments, and will wake up one day and say this is Apple crap. For 950.00 Apple cant properly etch their labeling. i am sitting on a jet black 7 plus sealed and received 3 days ago from Verizon.
i do believe its going back. Between buggy LTE connect and now finish crap i dont need it. And the buzzy pocessor. You guys dont want to admit the Chinese probaly had someone incarcerated make your toy

Yes, I suppose that, for a collector, this might qualify as a significant issue. (Though it's significantly unlikely that a phone, which will have sold hundreds of millions of effectively identical units around the world before it is discontinued will be worth 'collecting'.)

Apple cant properly etch their labeling.
You'd think a 'collector' would know the difference between *etching* and *printing* (likely silk screening). They are two completely different processes. Etching is a subtractive process. Printing is an additive process.

think bestksinsever would do the same?
Might depend on the adhesive they use on the individual skin but I'd assume they mostly use similar ones though. Thankfully my lettering hasn't been fading too bad since the first skin got removed so even if it did, it'd be minor.

what u got on dat now?

I was seriously considering a skin until I heard from someone about this here. That would be very stressful as I'm sure it would prevent me from using JUMP! with T-Mobile.

Yes but about non reported cases? One of my friend's 6 Plus got bent. Another's 6 got bent. Yet another's 5s got bent. But no one reported these...

I argued for 2 hours over a bent iPhone 6. They were wanting to charge me $299. Finally the manager settled on $99. It still felt like I was being screwed because it bent in my purse while in a separate pocket. I have no idea what caused it.

And it didn't have a single scratch, no damage on screen, nothing. Just a weird bend in what I'm guessing was its weak point in the aluminum.

Just because Apple only reports 10 phones, doesn't mean it was limited to only 10 phones. Just means those are the only ones they are willingly admitting to.

Just like this battery issue, they've only taken credit for first batch 6s but we've all seen the posts here about it affecting other phones too.

Man, I hope you don't speak like you type. "That" is not harder than dat to type. I'm not going to even get into sentence structure.

I'm only trying to make you come off as more intelligent. Not hating on you
OMG its the grammar police!!!!! how pathetic

You're gonna love it specially when you're about to sell your iPhone 7 and less savvy buyers will think your phone is fake and you won't be able to sell it for a good price.

Nice feature indeed!

LOL...Seriously folks, this fading of the markings isn't a big thing and will not affect a re-sale at all. Unless of course you get the one guy who must have all markings intact. Most people looking to purchase a 2 year old phone are looking to get a phone in great condition. If your phone is in mint condition after X amount of years, no one is going to care about faded markings.

And there are plenty of ways to prove you have a genuine iPhone for a less tech savvy buyer.
