Looking at several factors I have a feeling (Based on absolutely no evidence or insider information) that Apple may be planning to shock the world by updating there entire mac line (Excluding pros that have just been updated) at WWDC in June.
I'm willing to bet a kidney that the iphone will be relised at WWDC, thats not a pro product 😛
hmm i know rams are cheep in New Zealand...but so are yews.
(sorry)
The Mac Mini is in desperate need of an update.... but what worries me is that Apple will not bother with this Santa Rosa chip set and put the current Core 2 chip in it (probably the 1.8ghz version) as a way of differentiating it from it's more expensive computers which hopefully will get the new chips.
The Mini is in desperate need!!!
But they'll probably wait until the next Intel graphics line is introduced across the consumer board. What was it? The X3000?

Desperate Need? I'm getting a little tired of this sentiment. It seems to go hand in hand with the one that says the Mini has to have dedicated graphics, etc, etc. It is an entry level machine that is quite suitable for its target market. Could it benefit from a Core 2 Duo? Sure, of course. But also don't be surprised if it's not the last Mac to see Santa Rosa. Is it a bit overpriced, spec for spec for what you get? Maybe it is. But it is still a great entry level machine fot those wanting to get their feet wet with OS X. It will do all the things most people need very well, like surfing the web, email, and word processing, in addition to all the iLife apps. Don't expect the Mini to be more than it is. And if you want power and performance in a tiny little package, buy one and mod it yourself.
Ahh that would actually be a good idea, however announcing something before releasing something is very un-mac...
Man, a lot of anticipation for WWDC and it's still a month and more away..
CURRENT MacBooks can do 1080p as can Mac Minis. The new ones should be no problem. So I have question for you Mac gurus:
I want to get a new computer to act as my home theater hub 75% of the time and a laptop the rest of the time. I have a lot of downloaded HD video content, and as soon as it's prevelant on iTunes MS I'll have a whole lot more (woohoo!). My current MBP does pretty good HD output to my HDTV (1080i). I'm wondering if I can get by with just a Macbook when the new Santa Rosas come out in June/July or if I'll need to get a MBP in order to have HD video. Basically, I can't afford a MBP so here's hoping 🙂
Thoughts?
😕

🙂you can also get the mini dvi - dvi cable, then pick up a 3rd party cable that does dvi - HDMI 😀 so you can plug the macbook right into the HDMI port on your tv![]()
🙂
Yea, thanks I'm actually using a DVI-HDMI cable right now for my MBP. 🙂
I just need a 2nd computer because I want to watch videos AND work on the computer at the same time.
