At this point I'm not even sure what you are talking about.

Based on your other comments I'm just gonna let things go at this point. The poor OP's thread has been derailed enough and you are obviously not willing to accept any responsibility or even be open to examining your own behavior. :(

The thread hasn't been derailed one bit. I've just pointed out the hidden monster behind it, which is societies pressure to use such products.

Okay, I took the bait... sue me.

Do you really expect us all to believe that no where in your head is there room for the possibility that people use these kinds of products because they actually want to use them.

Seriously friend, this isn't a conspiracy. People make their own choices about how they want to manage their appearance. Yes, some are influenced by media and culture, but not everyone. There is no "hidden monster".

EDIT:
Could someone post the definition of "derail?"

My attempt to return the thread from something mscriv can start charging for

Well played. Online I charge double for "irrational and annoying" clients.

Where did I say that wasn't a possibility? I didn't. But it is plain to see that society desires people without body hair (take a look at any magazine).

That's where you are wrong. The truth is, making fun of these things happening, and in turn making fun of people with body hair perpetuates social stigmas that are arbitrary and damaging to those individuals psyche.

No need to try and get emotionally involved in this. If you disagree, state why. Don't resort to insults.

No worries my friend. I can assure you that I am in no way emotionally involved in this. And I'm not sure what insults you are referring to? The words irrational and annoying are adjectives which I used to describe behavior. Let's not forget that as a mental health professional I am licensed and trained to make diagnoses. That means I can take my observations and make a formal and accepted judgement regarding an individual's actions. And yes, I'm so good that I can do it over the internet. ;)

Oh, and for the purpose of clarifying any confusion please read the disclaimer below. As you said above, I should do my best to make myself clear

Which is an attempt to insult me, by calling me annoying. You can just not do it next time. No problem.

Well, first you have to prove you are a mental health professional.

Secondly, "annoying" isn't a medical diagnosis, so attempting to say that because your a mental health professional you can make such a "diagnosis" is not only a disservice to your profession, but discredits you as a respectable professional.

Nice attempt at being flippant.

Who said anything about medicine or medical diagnoses? And who said "annoying" was a diagnosis. I clearly said it was an adjective describing behavior. Who's looking "discredited" now? :p

Attempt? Clearly my friend you don't understand the definition of the word attempt because my post is obviously a successful achievement. ;)

Oh yea... legal says I have to do this again.

You did in your previous post. Deny it all you want, but you slipped up. And I don't have any credit, nor do I care or need any. I definitely don't need to try and boast about my profession (which btw, is basically pseudoscience) in order to appeal to authority and talk down to people while making "diagnosis".

Another unsuccessful attempt. I think you've sufficiently caused this thread to be derailed. Congrats.

If you want to continue to talk about the OP let me know. I'm not going to continue to banter about nonsense. It's not interesting.

Man this thread started out great....but now it is just lame bickering.

Can't we go back to discussing what a bad idea it is to slather your pecker in veet?

It's great still...just now in a guilty pleasure in watching a train wreck way.

On the original topic, 30 years ago Eddie Murphy put out a comedy album where he steals his father's Old Spice and slathers it over his body. Listen to whole clip or skip to ~5:00:

Are you making fun of my propensity to slather Old Spice all over my body? It's a disease, sir. I'm deeply offended. Man, when you can make fun of Old Spicers, anything is fair game! Next, you'll be making fun of my obsession with.....shirt pockets.

No one's making fun of you, we're just uncovering the hidden monster behind the issue, you know, society's pressure that you must use some kind of product to alter your natural state of aroma. Hopefully individuals will become more comfortable with themselves and learn to reject societies idea of what a person should smell like. They should just be happy with themselves and comfortable with the natural odor produced by their body.

;)

FYI - I attended a conference today for continuing education credits related to my license. The keynote speaker's address was about bullying and one of the break out sessions addressed the messages being sent to today's youth through society, media, and social media. They talked about sexuality, gener roles, materialism, violence, abuse, etc., but to my surprise there wasn't one mention of the serious epidemic we are facing regarding body hair stigmatization.
