Next time, send them a box. And when they open the box with an "iPhone." Their faces will be splattered with paint. Hehe.

doesn't matter

i something similar happen to me when i tried to sell my psp on there. i even put in big, bold, underlined letters that i would only sell it locally so i could to lower the possibilities of scams and to avoid all the shipping hassles and the guy still wanted me to ship it across seas.

You can say local buyer, confirmed paypal address, etc. and they will try.
They will ask for your paypal address if needed. Problem is there is nothing to stop them on ebay.

So you have an auction, they win and start the games.

Even on Craigslist they are all over it and trying to get you to provide your paypal to send the money. They pay with stolen credit cards and then around three months later, paypal come to YOU for the money.

As I understand it, paypal will get the money. From you.

When I sold my iPhone on Craigslist here in NYC, about one-third were scammers who contacted me. They DEMAND your paypal id so they can send the stolen funds and then make you ship your iPhone.

When I asked this guy for a verified paypal address, he ignored it. Next day he emails asking for my paypal id to "send the money."

Ebay is almost a complete waste now due to these guys.

Sometimes it is fun to string them along, but then I always worry about them having my email address and not wanting to set up another email address just to have fun.

Yes, it's a scam. Why do you think she's giving you the sob story, which has nothing to do with buying the iPhone?

I smell scam!!!!!! Do you?

seriously? do you even have to ask?

the stupidity of people who don't bother to lift a finger to check the legitimacy of these offers is mind boggling, and even more unbeliveable are those that DO investigate and STILL entertain the offers for even one millisecond.

Well I wasn't even asking. I've posted a lot of my phones on craigslist and always seem to get somebody that has their daughter or son in school somewhere in Africa. I've never fallen for it. I always put locals only no shipping period in my postings. And for some reason these scammers don't get it that I won't ship. I dont even respond back to them once they come with their stories.
