A LockInfo style lockscreen.

It would display all unread emails, texts and notifications. A little weather widget too.

Doesn't this compromise the security of your personal stuff if you lost the phone?

That is called Intelliscreen and that came out three years ago.

Such a shame that when Apple finally gives us certain, useful features to catch-up to the jailbreak community from years ago, other competitors already enhanced theirs.

this. is. hideous.

i have faith in apple, and their ideas in ascetics. while i'm sure this is 'infinitely' useful, it looks way to cramped, apple would never use something that looked this ******.

all i want is a change to notifications, just live everyone else.
but i think it would also be nice if we could upload files(pictures mostly), via attachments of some sort with the safari app.

A simple request: The ability to choose a DEFAULT "reply-to/ reply-from" address in MOBILEME that's not my @me.com address. Yes, I can manually select it. I want to be able to have my university address appear by default. (and still have push email).

The ability to lock your messaging apps, I get all twitchy when anyone ever plays with my phone knowing they could be reading all my sms/emails

which apps don't save their states upon quitting?

every app compiled for iOS 4.0 should do that :/

Yes, apps compiled with 4.0 are automatically frozen in the background and automatically restored again the next time, unless the system needs more memory.

But that's quite different than an app restoring its state when it starts up from scratch. An app has to be explicitly written to do that. Some might not even want to.

Engadget still doesn't on the iPhone. Yeah. Go figure. And then they complain about Windows Phone 7 not having multitasking...

My answer? Optional Flash support. Please don't hijack the thread now. :p

But better notifications would definitely be nice and I would absolutely love to upwards swipe to close an app ala WebOS. Apple could carbon copy the card interface and I'd be happy.

Skyfire Web Browser does flash.

I did a quick search on MRoogle, and didn't see anything quite like this. The question is simple:

What is your SINGLE biggest request for iOS in the future? Whether it's an Apple app, SDK-related, or something else, it doesn't matter. Just pick ONE.

If this thread garners enough responses, I will attempt to collate them at the top of the thread.

I'll start: an AM/FM radio. If not for NPR, then at the very least for emergency situations. At the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert rally, the network was so crowded you couldn't even get a text message through. Imagine if there was an actual emergency. Sure would be handy to have access to the radio if you weren't able to check the internet.

Cheers,

DCBass

hey just so you know yo u can get an npr app on the app store that streams your local npr station live on 3g or wifi.

^ And then what happens if your phone locks up?
There are ways a power button could be implemented to force home on a lockup. 2-3 second depress = force return home, longer = check if user wants to power down.

Have you had applications lock up that often on your iPhone?

wow you couldnt be more wrong and come off more ignorant. First of all not all apps have multitasking, so no you cant always leave, reply and come back exactly where you left off. Secondly, you have obviously never jailbroken and tried BiteSMS. Its one of the greatest things to jailbreak for. It comes in handy daily for me and its insane Apple hasnt put this into their OS somehow yet. Being able to start and send a text from my homescreen is awesome.

Bro, calm down. The kid didn't need a tongue-lashing for simply offering what he wants most, regardless of his level of knowledge about the iOS. Not all of us are iOS gurus like you apparently are.

@OP: Honestly, I'd love to have multiple signatures for Messages. I have campus email and personal email on my Mac's Mail application with multiple signatures for each one, depending on the type of correspondence. I'd love to have this on a portable level.

Bluetooth file transfer and file browser.

Widgets or live-updating app icons.

Overhauled notifications.

Lockinfo.

Lightsaber attachment.

No seriously, I'd like to be able to transfer files via Bluetooth like photos and videos natively, not having to use bump, and I'd like to be able to install widgets on my lock screen.
