The number one feature that I want is for the device to be fully waterproof.
That is always my biggest concern whenever using one, and I am this close to buying an Xperia instead of a new iPhone because it's fully waterproof. I really like that the Xperia has built-in noise cancellation too, so you can just use cheap earbuds for it, rather than $200+ for a good pair of Bose or other noise cancelling headphones.

Beyond that, I would prefer a smaller phone. I still feel that 3.5" was the right size for a one-handed device, though I'd accept 4" if they move the sleep button to the side.

I'd prefer that the device was slightly thicker so that all models have the optical image stabilization, and the camera is flush with the back. Fill the extra volume with a larger battery.

I'd like to see a dedicated camera button on the side, and an iPad-style mute switch rather than the iPhone-style ones which seem to be a lot less reliable.

I'd also like to see higher storage capacities. 256GB or more and I'd finally be able to replace an iPod with one. I'd be happy with 128GB and a MicroSD slot though, since you can add a 128GB card and higher capacities will surely be available later.

I'd like to see the return of a black phone - or close to it, like the iPhone 5.
If we aren't going to get that, a gold & black phone, instead of the gold & white phone we have now.
I prefer the gold back to silver/space gray, but hate the white front.

I'm actually SHOCKED that a more scratch/shatter resistant glass is losing out
You can be more scratch resistant or more shatter resistant, not both.
Harder glass/materials (e.g. Sapphire) are more scratch resistant, but they are more brittle and prone to shattering.
That's why the Apple Watch Sport uses glass instead of sapphire.

As much as I'm very impressed and pleased with my iPhone 6 it would be nice if it felt that bit tougher.

Perhaps the whole bending thing has given me a sense of being over protective but it would be nice if it felt sturdy so I guess different materials would change that feel.

Biggest technical thing for me, purely based on the cool factor is wireless charging. I love the idea of it being able to charge by placing it on a matt or even ideally within range of the charger so it could be in your pocket at work or in the room and start charging. Not idea how possible it is but sounds cool haha.

Waterproof does little for me.

I agree about thickness/battery.

SD card slot will never happen. Ever.

I want shatter and scratch resistant though. Both please. Make it happen. Full on reality distortion field.

I'm surprised more don't share your sentiments, as I've seen many complaints that the 6's are too big.

I haven't checked out the iPhone 6 in person yet and that's something I will do soon (tomorrow?). But I think it'll be the perfect size. Something like the iPhone 6 / Sony Z3c size with the 6+'s battery would be awesome.

I have an iPhone 5s and I think it's too small although it fits awesome in my skinny jeans. I wouldn't mind a larger phone (previous GNexus owner) though.

How was the size for ya? What did you end up doing?

I really like the iPhone 6 size and it's basically perfect for me. I still have my 5s since I'm still under contract but when I'm looking to upgrade next year, I'd definitely consider the iPhone 6s. Or I might go back to Android. I'm not sure yet.

I'd like it to be waterproof and strong/durable - basically, I'd like it to be as if I had it in a Lifeproof case, without having to buy/use a Lifeproof case. Next after that would be battery life, because that's always a nice feature no matter how good it currently is. All the other stuff is low or non-existent on my wants list.

Higher screen resolution should be on the list too! 401 ppi or greater for the 4.7" model!

If rumors hold, this could be possible in the next product cycle or two.

*** CLEAR! ***
It's funny, but I think--aside from RAM increase and SE form factor--the poll results still hold up.
