Then you should hold onto your legacy computing device. Don't feel bad, the government still uses floppy disks, you're not alone.

well aren't you just snark-tastic.

don't worry, you shouldn't feel bad either. not everyone has the skills to make full use of a desktop/laptop.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and responses so far :) <3

It's funny... if a family or friend needed my MacBook Air and iPad Mini 2 I'd be happy to give them both and would feel perfectly justified with my iPad Pro 9.7 purchase... but buying the iPad Pro and having the other two just sit around collecting dust is hard for me :(

Also I can't really sell the MacBook Air or iPad Mini 2 as both have scratches / dents. They work fine and theres nothing wrong with the screen, but it seems like if I sold them it would be for mere pennies on the dollar and a waste.

#FirstWorldProblems

P.S. I know, I'm weird ;):p

I hear ya. If you can't give them away to family, then TRY to sell them... dents, scratches, and all. You might be surprised to learn how much someone is willing to pay for them. Even if you only get a few $100 for them, at least you'll have a bit more pocket money, someone will get use out of something that would otherwise just sit in a closet. There's some satisfaction in that. If after exhausting all of those, consider simply giving them away to people you know.

Once the family gadget foodchain has been worked, whatever falls out the bottom end is what I give away to friends. There's always someone who could benefit.

After an 18 year career in IT I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else. If your ego is dependent on what computing device you use, I feel sorry for you.

if you worked in IT i would think you would have a more sensible vision of one size does not fit all. my ego doesn't enter into the matter, but a LOT of what i do requires tools that simply don't exist in the iOS world.

and it was a friendly jest, as i assume was the comment likening using anything other than an iPad to a floppy disk, so don't even try to take the moral high road. :p

Think of it this way: the longer you hold onto devices you don't need or use, the less pennies per dollar you will receive. They are wasting away, helping no one. There are plenty of people who can't afford new, but still benefit greatly from using slightly older devices, scratches and all. The day you sell them, the waste stops and the benefits to someone else begins.

enjoy it. You deserve it.
What a rediculous thing to say, how do you know he deserves it. I'm sure he not, but he could be a right D bag in real life, who stole that money of skool kids. Of course he isn't, but to suggest you know him and can vouch for some random stranger on a forum.. jeez, the mind boggles.
