I think it's going to be expensive 🙁 I read somewhere that it might be £699 for the 32GB version. The 64GB is probably going to be in excess of £750 😱

Can't see it happening at all unfortunately. They've done their research and come up with numbers that don't appeal. A few months isn't going to change much in that respect and anyone who really wants one will just import. Everyone else will look elsewhere (Samsung hopes the S6E+ but I'm not so sure).

Yeah. If I buy it would have to be on contract because the only phone I'd pay that much for is the iPhone. At least I'd know that it will be supported with software updates for years to come and will have excellent after sales support and that I can run high quality apps on it. I couldn't get the same guarantees with a Samsung/android phone and for that reason I don't think it's worth as much as an iPhone. At the same time I don't want to use up my upgrade on this device. I'll probably end up with the iPhone 6 plus S and just play around with the nexus 7 (2013) I bought at the weekend. As nice as these new Samsung phones are, I'm too heavily invested in the apple ecosystem (iPhone, 2x iPads, apple watch, MacBook Air, Apple TV) to spend this much on q secondary device.

It's the road I'm heading

Buying

6 plus S
Apple watch
Apple TV
And maybe MacBook Air..as I don't have a computer at all and at some point I will need one...want one for iTunes for example so I can store stuff from my iPad and new iPhone

Yeah....Friday can't come quick enough. Short of a disastrous review....day one purchase for me. 64 gb, not sure in the color though. Options are black or white.

You've likely seen me say it, but giffgaff have pretty good deals where you can get £110-170 off the S6 (Edge). I'm hoping that they do the same with the Edge+

Thanks. I've just had a look. The edge pricing is cheaper but the regular 6 has dropped quite a lot £570 for a 128GB S6. They don't have it in gold though.
 
I've been rooting and custom ROM'ing since like 2010 but don't really care for it anymore as long as I can disable bloat via app manager or Debloater Windows tool, have working Foxfi or equivalent WIFI tether and everything just works with stock ROM. You can nitpick about Touchwiz but one standout thing with stock ROM is it's super stable since like the Note II and it's not uncommon to get 2000+ hours uptime before an intentional reboot (see attached pic).

The 64GB 6 Plus is £699, so I think it will be £750 ish, in the same ballpark but also more expensive than the 6 Plus.

Yeap, Samsung has simply stated it does not currently plan to bring the Note 5 to Europe, not it won't bring it this year but will next year.
I can't see them bringing it into Europe. Unfortunately, still find it a mind boggling decision to be honest.

Yep ... Journalists/media have said hopefully they'll bring it out in 2016 - this has then been seen/taken in some quarters as affirmation by Samsung that it would be releasing next year when Samsung have not said anything like that. Sadly I don't expect it to arriving here at all either.

However I also don't expect the Edge + to capitalise on its loss either. (The S6 edge despite a price cut is still currently priced higher than what the Note 4 retailed for on off-contract PAYG when it released here, the Edge + thusly will be significantly more expensive)

I think Samsung will inevitably have a very tough Q3/Q4 earnings in Europe which will affect their overall spreadsheet.

Even if a focus group said Europeans don't use their pens - that doesn't translate to Europeans want a device without one and costing more ... However we will see - but I honestly think releasing a Note 5 and no to the Edge Plus for Europe would have made more sense than the reverse.

It gives a good idea or screen on time...but not standby.

But android M sleep mode should increase that. You are correct, but keep in mind the battery life "should" go up after the update.

It gives an indication of SOT under a certain test circumstance that is likely not indicative of real world battery results.

I love my Xperia Z3 but I get maybe only 30-60 mins max more SOT over the course of day than my S6 Edge. So my Z3 generally is 4 hours to 4.5 hours SOT with its brightness on auto 95% of the time.

If I took that benchmark above as gospel or indicative as what I should be getting - then I should be getting at least another 6.5 hours SOT !!!! Likewise my Nexus 6 has never managed to out do the iPhone 6 Plus battery wise, but according to that test it should be doing so ....

So yeah, I'm more than skeptical on that specific test to be indicative of real world results - but what at least can be taken from that is that it thankfully the new devices appear to be at least in the same ballpark as the better performing handsets on battery. Which is good.

Touché.

If any of my phones, iPhone or android, performed to benchmark levels...you would never hear me complain about battery life.

Those battery results are sort of meaningless. Let's see real world usage, and what apps people are running, etc...

Per that graph, it says the Nexus 6 is better on battery than the iPhone 6 Plus. Uh, no. I've owned both, and the 6 Plus was a battery champion, much better than my current Nexus 6. Even tweaked with a great ROM + Kernel, my Nexus 6 doesn't come close to my iPhone 6 Plus for battery.

Riiiiight and if the benchmark said it had horrible battery....you would take it at face value. It all depends on how someone uses their phone. But the battery tests do give a clear indication of what people can expect.

No I wouldn't...no idea why you would get defensive with that comment

Then you went on to agree with my comment at the end. It depends how you use your phone. Benchmarks are nice to brag about I guess but you could have great Benchmarks and have crappy battery life. So it doesn't mean much. Never has to me.

I am not defensive about it. Just see a clear double standard from a lot of people. I have seen people rave about phones and benchmarks and get downright giddy about it. Then benchmarks about a Samsung phone and for some reason there seems to be some kind of negativity about it.
When people switch phones and prefer something else.......they have a habit of then dumping on their old choice.
