Here in Ireland only the 64gb variant of the S6 Edge was available at launch and first few months. No 32gb version until very recently when the price drop was announced - likely they needed to introduce a cheaper edition into the country as its €699 for 32gb here and €869 for the 64 (down from €949)

So availability does depend on region / country.

I have no doubt 64gb will be available in Europe, but it's likely subject to variations on a country to country / carrier to carrier basis.

830 British Pound equals €1167.11 Euro and that's with UK cheaper vat rate of 17.5%. Ireland it's 23% meaning for me a 64gb when released or if released here would be over €1200 !!!!

I don't think it is bad at all. The guy only had his N5 fur a short time . So battery life will get better once it settles in. I get mine tomorrow so I'll report back my battery life results.

My Nexus 6 routinely gives me on average 5.5h Screen On time, and overall like 25 to 30 hours total battery life, and bad days I may only get 4.5h Screen On time with like 20 hours total battery life, but 9 times out fo 10, I get the 5.5h Screen On time.

Again, thanks to rooting and my tweaked custom ROM + Kernel ( Hells core beta 9 Mako ) and this ROM is 100% rock solid extremely stable, but makes the phone faster and smoother, and extends the battery life significantly.

To me my Nexus 6 giving me 5.5h Screen On is the borderline, of the minimum I need. Usually I find the 5.5h just barely enough to get me through the day, I need and want more battery life, because I hammer my phone all day and night long, couple hours of phone calls per day, million text messages, million e-mails, GPS Navigation, surf the web, watch YouTube, take photos.

Bottom line, if the Note 4 only gets around 4h Screen On time, that's terrible for a Phablet, phone would be useless for me by afternoon. Samsung screwed up big time, long gone are the glory days of the awesome Note 2 getting 6.5h to 7h Screen On time, the Note 2 was known as a battery champion king.

It's where the better performing androids (battery wise) have all ended up being for me that 4-4.5 hours in my normal every day pattern of usage. Strangely though even some of the androids that were supposed to get a lot better like the Z3 peaks around 4 - 4.5 too, and ones that are supposed to be bad such as the Moto X 2014, I get about / up-to 4 hours on that too.

So yeah for me personally 4-4.5 SOT is fine, especially considering I like having auto brightness on and slider almost to top and live in a fussy cellular area.

I'm sure you can root the note 5, eventually, and achieve those results. Also....android m may change the battery for the better.

That being said...we get it. You love your nexus. Personally, I like this iPhone, but it doesn't do everything the I need, and the note does.

If I didn't want this phone, I would be completely out of this subtopic by this point. It seems apparent that you are not getting this phone and/or want to put down the phone to justify/elevate your device. That's fine, it's a common thing around here; but the phone is out and people can now move on. The negativity in this thread is getting old. So for those who don't want the driver, maybe move on? Check back in a few weeks or months and see if your proclamation of doom were correct?

I mean....we see this in the iPhone forum every year a new one comes out. Someone either doesn't want to upgrade, whatever, and then makes a subtopic so that everyone else or like mind can come in and agree, and bash the new iPhone. It makes those people feel better about the decision.

I understand, I used to do the same a few years back. Now, I don't see the need. I got an iPad Air 2, I won't be upgrading , and I won't be participating in the "bash the iPad Air 3" threads.

I am ridiculously pumped for this phone though...it's like Christmas. I feel ridiculous haha

That is great that you rommed and tweaked and can get that extra battery life outta the N6. But you know.......you are that very very small minority that still want to do that. The overwhelming vast majority of people do not even know what a locked bootloader is.
I don't want to have to do all that to my phone to get performance out of it. I want it be that pretty much out of the box.
I don't mind disabling a few carrier bloated software programs. But romming and tweaking and unlocking the BL and flashing a different kernel just to get performance is just not worth it to me anymore.
I have a N6 and did all that and it still did not last as long as my Note4. Then the camera comparison was sooooo far in favor of my N4 it wasn't even close. So i get just as good battery on my N4 as i do my rommed tweaked N6 but with a way better camera and overall user experience. I mean stock images don't even have a battery meter displayed as text. How simple a things is that to do? How can something so simple be left out.

Bottom line..........i used to do all that romming and unlocking the BL and flashing new kernels. All that super tweaking. But to me i would rather have a phone that sorta just fit my needs outta the box without having to do all that.

Bah White 64gb is on backorder already. Should of tried to order sooner. Guess I'll have to try my luck on Fri.

Not visual changes are welcome, and we already know Touchwize is quite a bit more optimized from the note 4 version.

The DPI increase is the most welcome, IMO.

Ill give the stock launcher a try...but from what I understand the spen features can be used across any third party launcher, correct?

If so...I am sure Ill be on action launcher 3 in no time. Nova is great, and I highly recommend it, and its extremely polished and stable. Action launcher 3 is getting there...but its set up and features are killer, IMO.

Looking at the N5 and N4 screen side by sides. I do see a more refined Touchwiz.
I like third party launchers too. My fav is Nova....but will have to look at Action Launcher

Sorry if my point isn't coming across correctly. I want to like the Note 5, I may actually buy one still. I didn't drive to Best Buy on Saturday for nothing. Whole reason was to see the Note 5 in person and play with it, and I did like it.

To me a smartphone's #1 most important feature is BATTERY LIFE. That is numero uno, top of the mountain, the most crucial feature of a smartphone, is the battery life and it's longevity. Because a dead phone, is a useless phone, might as well be a brick.

#2 To me is the OS, I like minimalist and clean, and no bloat, no carrier crapware. All apps should be able to be deleted, even core system apps if I know what I'm doing.

#3 Is the screen / display. A screen that can be sued outdoors in the day is very important, and I prefer AMOLED type, which Samsung uses.

I view battery life so importantly, it's the lifeblood of a phone, and I need to wait a couple weeks, and really see peoples true battery results after the phones been in hands of real users for a little while, to see the true results.

My fav Samsung phone was my ATT Note 2, that thing was a beast on battery. Out of the 17 or so flagship smartphones I've owned the past 5 or 6 years, the Note 2 was in the very top for best battery life phone I've owned. I just want the Note 5 to be like the Note 2 was for it's day, that's what I am looking for.

Anyway, I can understand. The battery looks Good enough to me...and few minutes on a turbo charger can give the phone new life.

Agreed on the Note 2 battery life! The N2 was actually my very first Android device and it was a beaut! I ran a custom rom and I would get 6-7hrs of SOT.

But, my iP6+ was excellent in battery life as well.

I have a co worker that still rocks a Verizon Note 2. He loves it! Has no plans to replace it........

I would put the Note 2 and iPhone 6 Plus as my #1 and #2 battery champion smartphones I've ever owned. I got rid of the 6 Plus due to iOS, even with the JB, I couldn't get comfortable with it, so went back to Android and my Nexus 6.

I am very open minded to a Note 5, but need to wait and see real world results of people running it rooted, with Xposed apps like Amplify and Greenify, and see what that thing can achieve for battery longevity.

I told myself I wouldn't return to a TW device again but after reading some of the comments in the S6's and Note thread about TW improving from previous versions, I'm willing to give it a try again.

However, I don't think I'd root the device this time around only cause of Samsung/Android pay; it's my understanding they won't work if you trip KNOX.

With that said, I might swing by a ATT store and sign up for one soon... Now, which to go with, Edge + or the Note 5!? 😛

I am not rushing into a Note 5 and I know the audience is different but the Pure would probably suffice for me, especially at $399. 🙂

I currently have the Nexus 6 and as much as I like pure Android, it's just too boring for me. I'm afraid besides the low pricing and micro SD, the Pure will be a Plain Jane to me as the Nexus 6 currently is.

The Nexus 6 will be sold if I go for the Pure or the Note 5. Plain Jane would be OK with me, the N6 ergonomics do not thrill me.
