Galaxy Note 5

It is close, but every user's experience is different. The slight difference in battery life is easily off set by the turbocharged ability. With that in mind the battery life on the note 5 is superior in my eyes, due to the relatively long endurance, with the ability to charge the phone rapidly

Well just the other day my iPad air 2 was 100% for 17 hours straight in standby.

My edge drops about 15-18% overnight
 
I'm not an iPhone fan at all, but the 6S Plus with 2GB RAM, and the updated processor, will be a beast I bet. Plus with iOS9's supposed more efficiency and better battery management, I bet the 6S Plus will get like 8h Screen On time. Too bad iOS in general just sucks IMO, feels so dated, and limited, with no back button, no real widgets, and pretty much zero customization.

Yeah im sure the 6S will be a beast. I know my curiosity will set in once it drops and I am sure I will give it a go but this Note 5 is definitely holding its own. Multitasking doesn't bother me as much I just wish Samsung text messaging app handled group messages better. I know you can use Hangouts and Google Messenger but those apps both lag and thats a dealbreaker for me.
 
There doesn't seem to be a killer battery life Android phone anymore ? Nothing compared to the iPhone 6 Plus. When I briefly owner the 6 Plus I jailbreak it, and was getting 2 days battery life, and like 7h Screen In time.

Where are the comparable Android phones with that kind of stamina ?

Right! all these high rated mAH batteries and still just cant get a phone thats consistent enough to stand up to the 6 Plus. Its all about optimization at the end of the day. Android phone to date with the best battery life was easily the OnePlus One. It might have been right there with the 6 Plus.

Maybe iPhones are syncing (or in this case not syncing) with far less services generally when its sleeping. Though android has improved greatly in this regard - regardless of which android device - they all seemingly don't handle standby as well as ios. Things like Google Location History I find is a real heavy battery drain on any android phone - and one of the first things I turn off on all mine. My S6 Edge will only drop maybe 5-8% during the night if it's not charging / on charge. Similar with the Z3, X 2014 & N6 ....

I owned the OnePlus One, and yes on Kit Kat ROM's it was very close to the iPhone 6 Plus battery life, I was easily getting 6h to 6.5h Screen On time. But then Lollipop destroyed it, drastically reducing battery life on the OPO. I could never achieve the same bstttey life again on Lollipop.

Only other phone that ruled for battery life was my classic Note 2, that beast with a good ROM + kernel was king. I would get 6.5h to 7h Screen On time with my Note 2. Too bad sounds like the Note 5 is nothing like that ?

Wish mine only did that...it's why I always charge at night as if I don't it wouldn't last till 2-3pm

Do you have google location history enabled ? If you do it will be sending location history to google throughout the night.


Google Settings app - Location - Location Services - Google location history.

Ahhh yeah on KK that thing was a beast but I think I got rid of it before Lollipop came out for it. Now that's true as well, the Note 2 was a beast and I remember I use to be in love with that device lol.

I mean you know people will always get different results when discussing battery life but I am always let down with any Android device when coming from the 6 Plus. I mean i'm sure ti will get me through the day but I am still in the tinkering and cant put it down phase so its hard to judge at this moment.

Ohh 🙁 Check wifi settings - see if things like Always Allow Scanning or Smart Network Switch are enabled and causing additional resource pull.

Actually regarding battery in general. I've decided to give Cortana Beta a go - to replace Google Now. I've replaced Google with Bing in the Samsung browser and I'm just going to see with GN disabled what battery gains I would get whilst active and in standby - or whether there is a bigger hit with Cortana.

I'm not attacking your personal preference, but I'm curious about why you like the back button. For me, I would choose the side swipe any day. It just feels so natural, and so simple. And it also works across the OS. I'm not trying to start an argument, but why do you think the back button is better?

When I briefly owned the ip6+ I don't remember the side swipe working with every app; does it?
