Back to phones MRU, you said you were able to get a very long battery life to your device, how do you manage to get that? I have a nexus 4 (still looking for a phone making me switch, maybe hawei p8 will succeed, let's see), however, I have lollipop, but I struggle to get a decent life battery. When I use navigator via GPS it sucks, I always stay in save battery mode, but I think there is something in background is killing it.
Which setting should I look at?

Actually my battery life on my S6e has been a little disappointing tbh. My other android devices have been good and my two main things i do is 1) switch to battery saver mode under location settings and 2) switch off google location history

The only other thing I tend to change is remove an app that constantly seems to poll and use a lot of data / wake time in the background. Facebook for example is a big culprit there.

I did it! Thanks.
the option for the location setting was high consumption, low consumption and only gps.
I switched to the 2nd, the gps drains more battery than WIFI isn't it? Or I should switch to gps?

Indeed I realised what's draining the battery is the car sharing app, which I cannot disable since I always use it.😕

Yeah I find GPS to be most power consuming of the three 🙂

The easiest thing you can so is disable location/GPS if you don't actually need it.

Disable capacitive lights completely.

Use power saving mode. It keeps the display from going super nova bright and cuts peak cpu power consumption

Close unneeded apps.

The above gets me between 4 to 6 hours of screen time depending on how much I game.

Disable wifi calling as well.
 
Am I the only one that doesn't disable location? You guys are talking about the location toggle in the pull down menu right?

I hate opening maps and then remembering j have to toggle on location. That I leave alone because I was under the impression the GPS doesn't get used until an app needs it?

I have location history turned off however.

Nope. That's turning off location.

What I am suggesting is turning of location history in privacy settings.

The two are not the same

Turning off location as you are doing turns of location all together. This means apps requesting location info won't get them. This is not good or practical. Leave it on.

Google Location history is a constant polling / push service that runs even when your not using an app requesting location access. It constantly records your location and pushes that information to google so they can give you transit and such information in Google Search Cards (Google now).

Turning off location history stops your device continuously recording your location and pushing it to google - thus saving battery life.

All other apps like Google Maps, weather, camera still have full access to location when they need it.
 
Huge issue with tinder app on the gs6 5 min of using the phone gets super hot and lost 20% battery life in 5 min and also got this nice pop up.

I just set up the TV remote function on my s6 and am now controlling my TV and cable box from my phone. You can see the guide and everything right on the phone.

IR blaster for the win.

Strangely Peel Smart Remote didn't come pre-installed on mine, but just a matter of downloading it. Still very strange to not supply software for the hardware from the outset. When you consider what did come pre-installed that you really don't need by comparison.
 
Anymote Smart Remote is a must for an IR phone. It costs less than 10 dollars but can control everything that can be controlled by an IR blaster. Heatpumps, dslr, set top boxes, anything. And their support is brilliant.

Note: The expensive ios version uses WiFi to IR converter, that's not the product for IR featured smartphone.

I use jaybird bluebud x, really nice and portable, though for phone calls they're OK, but people on the other line can tell, but for listening to music and stuff, they're great. Battery life is really good too.

I've been using LG Tone HBS730 for the past year and had the previous year's model (HBS700 maybe?) before that. Good sound quality, no complaints on call quality from other end, easy to use--can wear discreetly around your neck and quickly put in earbuds if needed. Pretty good battery life as well.

If the newer models are as good, they're a good option.

Are you noticing the A2DP quality to be a little tinny/minor distortion on the S6/Edge? My music doesn't sound as good with my Jaybirds nor my car BT compared to my Z3 Compact.
