Looking like no S pen support
There’s case makers out there indicating that there will be S-Pen support… but until Samsung validates it, I think you are right that Samsung has decided to go in a different direction.

From the Fold 3 to the 6… there were plenty of marketing material showcasing S-Pen support, but none so far for the Fold 7. As I stated earlier in the thread… PandaFlashPro mention that their will be a special S-Pen to support the Fold 7, maybe we will get word about it tomorrow.

But I’m highly skeptical that Fold 7 will support S-Pen functionality.

Yep, seems like the case.

We all know how this will turn out. Samsung is waiting on Apple to release their foldable then we will magically get a brand new redesign Samsung Fold with a S Pen.
I don’t know… I seen this one video discussing how there is internal discussion whether to remove the silo in an attempt to gain more battery in the S Ultra series.

Basically, the S-Pen is looking to get phased out in the Fold and S Ultra series… keeping stylus support tied to the Tab series (tablets) similar to Apple.

Yeah seems odd that there has been no mention of it

And that’s leading me to believe Samsung won’t allow S-Pen support… because it would have been shown in the marketing material.

And what’s crazy about that whole comparison sheet between Folds @nfl46 posted, there’s no S-Pen category. It’s as if Samsung wants to remove any word of it completely. They could at least acknowledge there’s no S-Pen for the Fold 7.

I'm still optimistic that there will be s pen support.
I wish I had your optimism!

Samsung will say like with s25 ultra hardly anybody uses it or use a % stat

Says to me I could see it going completely on s26 ultra too.

But I agree if Apple foldable next year adds pencil support I could see a U turn

I've got the Fold 5. Are you guys anticipating a noticeable camera improvement on the 7 versus the 5 and 6? I see the things that around out and about regarding improvements but I'm hoping for some solid real world improvement. I get adequate pictures for what I do but it does struggle at times.

I have ZF6 case with Spen I never use it but hopefully they keep it for others

I can see how eliminating S Pen could benefit the S Ultra series by providing room for a larger battery, but where's the benefit for removing S Pen support for the Fold series? The digitizer doesn’t make the screen appreciable thicker on the Fold and the S Pen never had its own silo so there's no space to reclaim on the Fold. I think Samsung should keep S Pen support on the Fold.

That said, in reality I don’t write as much with the S Pen on my Fold 6 as I did on my Note 8. I managed fine with previous iPhones without a stylus so I'm sure I'd be okay too if the Fold 7 went backwards and lost S Pen support. We will find out soon enough tomorrow.

Looking through my Samsung Notes app, I actually use my S Pen more often than I realize. I mean, it's not a daily usage but I do have a new page of handwritten notes a couple of times each month. Sometimes I'm on a call and jotting notes down at the same time. I really hope S Pen support is still available on the Fold 7. If no S Pen then I really don't see the need for Samsung Notes to exist.

I don't really write with the S-Pen, more so navigating around One UI... selecting text and using air command. And it's not like the "end of the world" kind of thing... but not planning on accepting the lost of it, certainly will skip this generation to see if Samsung reverse course.

Yes, resizing and editing photos is easier with the stylus, especially when tracing background people and objects to erase. Man, the more I think about it, the more I realize how handy S Pen is, even if I don't use it often. Highlighting, jotting notes, signing docs, air commands, photo editing, etc. S Pen is a great tool and I actually enjoy writing with it more than the Apple Pencil. Apple Pencil always feels hard and slippery when writing on the iPad, whereas S Pen has a softer contact. I know there are Papermate screen protectors for the iPad but none of that was necessary for Note/S Ultra/Fold series -- it just worked.

IF it's true, no s-pen support is a bad decision especially on a foldable with a bigger screen. If they remove the s-pen from the Ultra series of phones also, then I will certainly be dropping Samsung as my second phone. It is the one thing that stands out from Pixel, iPhone and just about every other brand. I may just go back to having one phone, my iPhone.

I agree. However, I don't think they're going with no s pen support. We'll soon see..

Not to sound like a blind Samsung defender because I will also be pissed if they ditch the S-Pen, but I respectfully disagree that the S-Pen is the thing that stands out. OneUI is the thing that sticks out as I believe of the 3 you mentioned, it's by far the best software of any of them. Pixel launcher sucks so if you get a Pixel, you have to slap on another launcher. iOS is trash right now and they seem to have zero creative vision anymore.

I have to disagree, personally I still prefer IOS. I'm speaking for the current version not IOS 26, simply because it's not out yet. Since upgrading to One UI 7 I have had battery issues and I just don't like certain things about the OS. But to be fair I'm an IOS first kind of guy anyway. I think it depends on opinion and preference tho. In my experience I've had more issues with One UI 7 than I have with the current IOS.

The S-Pen is the only reason I have not sold my S24 Ultra so far, it is VERY useful for certain tasks like signing a PDF document and then emailing it. Yes I could just use my iPad Pro, but that means a big screen just to sign a PDF document.
