Arguably Crysis is the most hyped game in the history of games ever

Depends what you consider "hyped". Within the industry, the expectations were ridiculous. But outside of the core industry? I've yet to see one Crysis commercial or merchandise, or people waiting in line. Saw all of that with Halo. Most of the people around me have never heard of it.

Crysis most hyped game ever? I think Halo 3 is leaps and bounds above that. They even got advertised on food and drink.
Agreed. When a movie makes its way on a drink or food, it's pretty hyped (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings), so when a video game does, trust me, it's hyped.

Halo 3 was an improvement over 2, but didn't feel as epic as I hoped.

Call of Duty 4 did surprisingly well in the press. Another one I haven't played yet.

Haven't played Super Mario Galaxy yet.

I will play Rock Band during the holiday. Had fun with the demo at Best Buy, but it's not GOTY material.

Guitar Hero III isn't much of an improvement over its predecessors.

Only played the first mission of Assassin's Creed, but I'm not completely happy with the combat. Could be more involved.

Still waiting on Mass Effect to arrive.

Bioshock was pretty fun.

Let's just not forget lots of other games came out before October 2007, too :D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_in_video_gaming)

i would say

Fps:call of duty 4
Racing:forza 2
rpg:mass effect
sports:nhl 07
rts:command & conquer 3
3rd person:dead riseing

but the game of the year for me has to be mass effect i cant get enough of it :)

bioshock is a great game but i didnt feel the need to play it once i had completed it did you get that same effect

I rarely feel compelled to play games through a second time unless they offer a compelling co-op mode, an alternative ending, a host of unlockable features, or are just plain incredible.
In general, I almost never find reason to replay most members of the FPS genre, even those as incredible as Bioshock. Rare exceptions include Halo CE and Halo 3, Call of Duty 2, Goldeneye, and the like.

Either Call of Duty 4 or BioShock for me. Both are excellent games and the CoD multiplayer will last me a long time. At least until Rainbow Six Vegas 2 comes out in March.
