Same on Android. WTF ?When you buy apple, be prepared to be nickled and dimed.
I've been on the beta of this for a while, and it's basically for if you like then-popular, older games. These are quality games that are fun to play. I don't like subscriptions, but frankly, I am so sick of free-to-play, buy gems games, that this is a welcome relief. Ideally, I'd just be able to buy the games I want, but that doesn't seem to be economically viable for the game devs.
Edit: I'd also like Apple to make it easier to turn on and off subscriptions. There should be reminders such as "Hey, you haven't opened this app in a month, would you like to cancel your subscription?" and subscription information should be much easier to find in the app store. Finally, I'd like the Settings app to contain a toggle to cancel a subscription along with the other permissions.
How so?When you buy apple, be prepared to be nickled and dimed.
i wonder why you're getting porn ads...
Maybe Apple is working on their own emulator via licensing deals? Prob not but would be interesting.I thought this was against Apple Store rules... Maybe not anymore?
Then why is it that we can't have a game emulation app for iOS and iPadOS?
All I want to play on my iPad:
Alien Breed by Team17
The Secret of Monkey Island
This was already deep in development at that point. They've been doing Test Flight betas for it since before Arcade was even announced.Apple starts a gaming subscription... Everyone else "hold my beer" LOL
Apl will find a way to shut it down
Based on what? Apple approved all not only the Game Club app itself, which is mostly just a catalog of the games available in the service and lets you buy the subscription itself, but they approved all of the updates to the individual games that are available through the service now. If they were going to "shut it down" they wouldn't have approved in excess of 50 updates all having to do with this.Waiting for Apple to shut it down...

While I wish this company success, I've never heard of any of these "Classic" titles... Good luck.
Just like Apple Arcade, all the games suck.
He must be one of the 3 guys who watch porn on the internet if my in person street survey numbers were correct.
Most of these games came out 8-10 years ago, so back when you were still crawling around your Mom's kitchen floor. While I wish this company success, I've never heard of any of these "Classic" titles... Good luck.

Any parent of a 2-10 year old will be eternally grateful for these game subscription services. Finally, no more **** downloaded to the tablet. No more porn ads every 30 seconds while my kid is playing some worm game.
Thought they did not approve something like that earlier in the year? This was already deep in development at that point. They've been doing Test Flight betas for it since before Arcade was even announced.

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous comment I've ever read given the context. What precisely about a $5/month subscription for all-you-can-play gaming is nickle-and-diming? What does this even have to do with Apple itself?
Then you either weren't around or weren't paying attention to games when they were originally released.
Hook Champ and its sequels were massively popular at the time and extremely well reviewed. A 2012 Wired article about Android gaming holds it up as a shining example of a great game only available on iOS.
Super Crate Box was a very popular indie PC game before being ported to Mac and then iOS.
Minigore, which is launching next week, was popular enough to spawn a sequel, and its main character appeared in other games, both on the App Store and other platforms.
The list goes on and on. The fact that you haven't heard of them says more about you than it does the titles they've chosen to resurrect.
Well, glad we got that out of the way. Guess we can all stop our subscriptions to both of the services now since PastaPrimav, the ultimate arbiter of taste, has laid bare the truth.
