I wonder how many modern MMORPG games are available for MAC OS?
Could anyone recommend something decent?

Intel has released new Iris drivers for Windows. Would anyone be able to install them and compare performance with the original drivers?

In this regard I also have a question. As far as I've noticed it's widespread to install bootcamp special for gaming. Therefore I wonder if the performance of one game is different on windows (under bootcamp) and on OS?

My understanding is that gaming performance in Windows is in general noticeably better than Mac. I've found that to be true, but I've also found that the computer generally tends to run hotter in Windows, and the trackpad is not as reliable.

Probably because of unoptimized fan drivers. What I usually do is force the fans to 100% whenever I game in bootcamp.

Hi guys,

I just want to share some gaming experience on rMBP 13" (late 2013).
I have checked already league of legends and team fortress 2 - both run well on medium settings.

Are there any other modern games which our rMBP 13" could handle satisfactory?
Please, share your experience.

P.S.: what we have now (based on your reviews I will be adding more info below):

Dead Space 3 - runs well
Tomb Raider - runs well on medium-high settings 30-45 fps
League of Legends - runs well on hight settings (1680x1050)
Team Fortress 2 - runs well
Black ops 2 - runs well
DOTA 2 - 1440x900 high settings no AA (30-40fps)
Counter Strike Global Offensive - runs well
COD4 - runs well (same requirements as BF3)
Diablo 3 - runs fine at mostly high settings (1680x1050)
World of Warcraft - runs fine, 60fps on good settings (1680x1050)
Eve Online - runs fantastic, over 100 fps sometimes on decent settings
BF3 - runs ok on decent settings in campaign mode, multiplayer requires lower settings
Skyrim - runs surprisingly fine, even with middle of the road settings (35-40 fps)
Guild Wars 2 - medium setting 25/45FPS
Dow2 - playable at 1440x900 medium/high no aa (ave of 30fps)
Wargame airland battle - 1680x1050 medium settings (30-40fps)
Insurgency 2 - 1280x800 high settings (60-80fps) optimised for 60fps2
DayZ - low Settings averaged 30FPS. 1280 x 800; All low settings, NO AA/AS
Civilization 5 - runs well on default settings
X Com Enemy Unknown- is playable at 1280x800 at med/high settings
FTL - playable at 1280x800 med settings (full screen and no sync)
Star Wars: KotOR - playable at 1280x800 med settings
Kerbal Space Program - playable at 1280x800 med settings
Xcom - at 1440x900 on high settings and it runs great
The cave - runs great on default settings
Arma 3 / Breaking Point DayZ - runs at low on 1440 x 900 @ 20-30FPS (considered playable for Arma)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battlefield 4 - unplayable lagging level, most likely after some optimization will run better
FFXIV - unplayable lagging level even on low settings (20 fps)
Coh2 - unplayable 1280x800 low 15-20 fps

how about bioshock infinite?

Then using windows under bootcapm is make sense even for those games which are available for both platforms (win and os)? Or there will be unnoticeable difference in performance and there is no sense to install bootcamp only for gaming?

World of Warcraft runs well on retina resolution at Fair settings, and runs at about 50-60 fps on lower resolution at good settings. I use retina res for questing and general gameplay, and lower the res when I raid. Did two LFR raids on two characters and fps was about 30 on 1680 x 1050, during the heaviest fight moments.

how about bioshock infinite?

I have the mid spec late 2013 rMBP and I can run bioshock infinite at 1280x800 at High graphics settings and it's definitely playable, though sometimes slow during action sequences. No problems running it at Medium.

85-110 fps in CS:GO (de_nuke) on lowest settings in Windows 8. Resolution was like 1080 by 800 or something... This is on the upgrade i5.

Playable but won't look great

Testing mac side now with the same game.

Mac side is 45-55 fps with same settings.

anyone had any success/tried iRacing on it?

If someone is willing to test (but doesn't want to pay the subscription) then https://cadillaccupracing.com has 3months free and you can unsubscribe from the email.

The Mac game uses a Windows to Mac port (possibly cider) which I don't imagine runs as well as the Windows version, but a test on both would be appreciated :)

Added.

Incidentally, I've realized that cs:go runs ok but fun's noise is definitely noticeable :)

Dolphin Surprisingly Runs Pretty Well

Just got my 13" with an i7, and I'm happy to report that it runs Dolphin (on the OS X side) as well as I could have hoped. Here's what I've tried so far, I'm running at 1.5x internal resolution, 1280x800 full screen (must be edited manually in the Dolphin.ini config file, and Dolphin must be run in "Low Resolution" mode) with otherwise out-of-the box settings--

WiiSports--60 fps (only dips a frame or two here and there, completely playable)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii--60 fps (again, a few dips here and there similar to Wii Sports, especially on the world map from time to time, but through the first few levels it's totally playable)

NBA JAM--50-60 fps, with major dips at menus and sometimes at the start of a quarter. The audio gets pretty choppy but if you're patient (or desperate), you can play through a game without it feeling like a complete slideshow. Your mileage may vary, of course. In a pinch, it'll do, but better hardware is needed for a really good experience here.

I'm using the 4.0-481 version of Dolphin, by the way.

This is great news on the dolphin side! By any chance has anyone tried running this with the stock i5? I'm trying to decide which to purchase... is dolphin running well with just the 2.4ghz processor?

Sorry for my absence for a while, will add this info....

By the way, I have recently tested Borderlands 2, it runs smoothly on decent graphic settings but I would recommend to use cooler pad. My mac was getting very hot while playing.

Star conflict is also runs fine.

BF4 runs perfectly with low settings in 1280x720

Running it on Windows 8.1 with lastest iris drivers and lastest update on Battlefield.

Didn't try it in medium yet. I will update my post if anything!

rmbp 13 late 2013/8gb/512gb/i7 2.8

Thanks for sharing your experience!
What OS (win7 or win8.1) under bootcamp is better for gaming from terms of performance?
