I have decided to install win7 via bootcamp and check perfomance by myself. Path of Exile runs shoothly even at max native resolution with high graphic settings. Will post result of TERA testing later.

With windows 8.1 my 13 rmbp plays BF4 pretty well with 30 or more fps. Most settings are on med with resolution at 1600x900.

Really good news! In this case I will install bf4 as well. Likely will have the same performance in win 7.

I have tested TERA online recently.
I can say that it runs fine at 1440x900, graphic settings preset is 3, using these settings you can get 20 fps in city and 30 fps in dungeons.

Another game was tested by me is Fallout 3 Vegas.
It runs pretty good at max graphic settings (set in launcher) with 1440x900 resolution.

Anybody try out The Witcher and The Witcher 2?
For Guild Wars 2, is it better using the mac client or running through bootcamp?

Not yet...
According to my experience I've noticed that rMBP 13" handles same games better with bootcamp. So you might get plus around 5 fps in Windows. But it's just IMO. Sometimes there is no any significant difference.

just wandering...
is the rMBP that this thread is about - the one that is currently on sale in the apple store:

13-inch: 2.4GHz
with Retina display
Specifications
2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
4GB 1600MHz memory
128GB PCIe-based flash storage1
Intel Iris Graphics
Built-in battery (9 hours)2

If so:
How well would it run CounterStrike GO in Bootcamp??
and also would it run Counterstrike: Source much better?
(i like servers that run 15vs15... as opposed to the 5vs5 scenario..)

^its the only game i really want to play; but FPS is everything in that game..
and lacking in it means dying alot.....

i'm just on the fence... as i want to buy the rMBP for music production...
But i only want to play one game: CSGO...
so it would be crazy to go and buy a £500~ PC desktop... just to play one game.
is gaming @ 45-55 fps going to put you at a big disadvantage?

cheers

I also make some music production in cubase and logic. For this purpouse I strongly recommend to buy 8gb ram. Cs GO runs fine in OS and I am sure will run much better in windows because this is valve's game.

Does anyone try BUREAU ? This game is available in steam with 80% discount and it supports OS.

Is that in multiplayer?

Would love to hear some impressions on how it runs on 32+ players multiplayer.

What's the threshold for getting a constant 40+ fps (if that's even possible)? All settings on low and AA turned off, sure, but what about the resolution?

Thanks!

hehe, mac are not that bad at gaming, I'm pretty sure you will have fine fps, but to be sure try to find some videos about it or something.

Well, there are only one or two videos up on YouTube and neither of them showed any multiplayer footage. And there's only one benchmark available -- also non-multiplayer.

Judging from those, the multiplayer mode would be hardly playable. So I was hoping for some anecdotal evidence in this thread. People who tweaked their settings, used Win 8.1, newest drivers, etc.

Stuff like this is what puts me on the fence. I need to replace my sold to pay rent before financial aid kicked in MacBook and I'm on the fence between a Y510P, Sager NP8265 and a Retina 13".

Sager has quad-core i7, 8GB, GTX 770M for $1260.00, the Y510P also has a Haswell quad, 16GB of ram and 755M SLI for $1150.00.

But the Retina MacBook has all the every day functional perfection, build quality and battery life I need for classes.

I'm leaning toward the gaming laptop because I feel like I can supplement the productivity but I wonder if supplementing the gaming would make me a better student.

Has anyone had a chance to try Planetary Annihilation yet?

I'll be outstandingly happy if it runs well

Fallout 3 runs out of the box? No 'new game' bugs, commonly appeared with older Intel HD Graphics series? No glitches, lags and graphical issues in gameplay? How many FPS?

Anyone run Runescape on the rMBP 13''? I'm considering getting the 256SSD 8 GB RAM model.

My 2008 macbook unibody will run it on low settings decently well, but I'm hoping to run it on higher settings.

I have mid-range 13" rMBP (2,4GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD).

I must say that Diablo 3 is not playable with the settings from the OP. At 1440x900 and mostly high settings I get around 30fps in not crowded areas. If you set it to 1680x1050 - good luck to you.

It's worth noting that reducing quality from high to mid or lower doesn't do much. Maybe 2-3fps at best. The resolution is the biggest killer. At the lowest resolution (960 x something) and highest setting you can get around 47fps but it looks god-awful.

I wonder if Windows on boot camp would do better. Even 10 fps would be worth it.
