[Gamescom] Sony Price Drops on PS3 & Vita

I own around 12 great Wii U games - not sure where the 2 number came from. This fall/winter Wii U has more exciting releases than any other console ... (for me at least)

Big Releases Include:

August:
Pikmin 3, Disney Infinity

September:
Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends

October:
Sonic Lost World, Batman Arkham Origins, Wind Waker HD, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

November:
Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch Dogs, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

December:
Super Mario 3D World, Wii Fit U (Yes I'm excited to get into shape with this one)

Between my Wii U and 3DS I have not been bored a single night. Plenty of stuff to play everyday. I believe there are around 50 Wii U games out right now plus all of the great eShop Indie titles.

The Wii U had 30 launch titles which is more than XBox One and similar to PS4 ...

Just got Pikmin 3 to play this weekend. I also got Tank! Tank! Tank! on sale at Toys R Us for $10.

As far as price drops, yes, competition will be fierce this holiday season.

I was at Fry's and they had already gotten in the 12Gig PS3 for $199, and had just re-tagged the PS Vita's at $199.

They also have Wii U's on sale, $279 for the basic, and $299 for the Deluxe.

I'd wager that Wii U will be just a single "normal" SKU for the holidays and it will be the Deluxe without the digital promotion and just called Wii U. That will be $299.

They will also have the Wind Waker HD bundle. The less customer confusion the better - reduce the number of SKUs to ONE except for value added bundles like Wind Waker - but hey this is supposed to be a Vita/PS4 thread ...

Sony really need to offer a vita / ps4 combo deal for $499 if they truly want the vita to sell. Sadly $50 off and a slew of indie games and one 2012 game ( not released till 2014 ) that anyone interested has already played is not enough to revitalise the vita....

Somewhat possible now- at Gamestop they had the Vita 3G Version bundle with one year of PSN+ (worth $99). This brings the cost of the Vita to $100.

I think in order to compete, they'll keep the basic bundle (Nintendo has always had a basic bundle after they revived the videogame market).

$249 for the basic Wii U and maybe over the holidays a free $30 game (and there will be a whole bunch by November) should get units moving

I think that the premium set will become the new "basic" set - just called Wii U - they'll get rid of the deluxe digital promotion, but having 2 SKU's - Basic and Premium is not helping them - needs to be one SKU to avoid any customer confusion over which one to get.
