In the MBP base model the 2.4Ghz there is the intergrated 9400M 256VR and the Discrete 9600MGT with 256VR also in the modes above that there is the Intergrated 9400M with the 256VR aswell as the discrete 9600MGT with 512VR,

Well if you are referring to the graphics cards then I believe it's the 512VR. There are (2) Nvidia 9600M GT graphic cards in this thing, and it's really powerful. I believe each one is 512MB... correct me if I'm wrong... they can't be less than 256MB each, this thing is too graphically powerful to be that low.

The MacBook Pro has the 9600m and the 9400m, not two 9600ms.

edit: Quagmire1088, you beat me :)

Right! I get it now I was slightly confused on my last post, I thought there were two 9600M but apparently there is one 9600M and one 9400M. I don't know, nor do I know how to find out. Can you tell me how, I'd be very interested. Sorry, I haven't had this thing very long.

You said you have 2GB of ram so you have the 2.4Ghz with 256VR on the 9600M. Go into system profiler to check all your components out. Apple in the menu bar then about this mac, and then there is a big button.

I have just quit playing Lord of the Rings online via Boot Camp running Windows XP.
The game itself runs very smoothly in the native resolution of 1440x900 with the settings set to very high which the game itself decided my hardware is able to manage. The aluminum frame above the keyboard gets warmed up and FanSpeed tells me, the CPU and GPU alike heat up up to 72 degreed Celsius. So that sound like pretty normal to me.

Ah, I played approx. 3.5 hours.

You know what they say, ya learn something new everyday.

Thanks!!

Yeah I just confirmed it in system profiler that I do in fact have the 256VRam for both the 9400M and the 9600M... I can't believe how powerful it is though, it runs World of Warcraft so good. I did notice the computer getting hot, but not as hot as others have reported... however I was playing WoW in Mac OSX, not Windows XP (which I don't have any games installed on yet). I've SMC Fan Controller application so I'll just crank my fans up before I play any games in windows. Shouldn't be a problem.

Awesome as i am a big WoW fan and i am getting the 2.4Ghz hearing that it racks up that much Fps i am greatly looking forward to playing,

was that with any addons?
and with maxed out graphics settings?

also anyone have any idea what the FPS for wow is like using the 9400M?

If I had to guess it will run just fine using the 9400m, I know that playing it on the unibody macbook at native res gives an average of about ~35fps
