I'm happy they finally decided to add MP3 support back into it. I've been sticking with the previous version all along.

However, rendering my typical tracks in MP3 with v.10 is still increasing the average file size by 10MB vs. the same track in v.6.0.5 of Garageband.

For the same quality thats technically impossible.

Also GarageBand probably has the same Mp3 codec as LPX, which doesn't make bigger files than LP9.

Hi, I have Garageband 6.0.5. Am I supposed to get this update? Were there any other versions (i.e. version 7, version 8, etc) in between my current version and this newly released version?

I also have the "old" pre-installed Garage Band 6.0.5

Since the Mac does not see v10 as an "update" (via App Store Updates), I have the option to download the new version as FREE software.

My question…. is Mavericks smart enough to "update" my older version to this new v10, or will it install a duplicate file/folder, thus leaving my iMac with two different versions?

Something is different, but I don't know what.

I made a recording this morning in GB 6.0.5, exported it to MP3 and it came out to 10.5MB.

Then I loaded the same 6.0.5 project into GB 10 and exported it to MP3 and ensured I had all the settings turned down to their lowest settings and it came out to 21MB.

What's the kBit/s compression rate on each file?

Here is what it is on GB 6.0.5, but when I go to export on GB 10, I don't get any further options to get it down to 32kbps, only 64kbps.

I guess maybe that is where the difference is coming from eh?

Yes.

I hope that's not music you're working on… Anything below 192kBit/s is not a good idea.

Yes, but the drummers in Garage Band don't drink your beer, hit on your girlfriend, not show up when they are supposed to and can actually keep accurate time.

(Not saying this applies to you, but most of the drummers I've worked with.)

There are a lot of amazing drummers out there. One wonders why none of them are choosing to work with you?

I've ask this question in a separate thread. But I haven't got any useful replies yet though.

Wow, sound like my joke hit a little too close to home. As my dad used to say, "The hit bird squawks the loudest."

Say, did you hear what the drummer got on his IQ test?.... Drool.

What is the definition of a band? Three musicians and a drummer.

I could do this all day.

Garageband 11 Ducking feature?

I have looked all over for the ducking feature in Garageband 11 but I cannot seem to find it. I read somewhere about going to controls>>>ducking, but I cannot even find controls!

I've attached a screenshot of what my Garageband 11 looks like. Please help.

What do they call a guy who hangs out with musicians? A drummer.

How can you tell a drummer is at the door? The knocking speeds up.

What do you say when your drummer is at the door? Thanks for the pizza.

:D
