Would you say it is more or less idiotic than Genesis?

Are you talking about the religious thing, the music group, the SEGA console or the planet-making project in Star Trek? ;)

Ha! That made me laugh considering I'm listening to Phil Collins right now... :)

Careful, careful, careful. Look at what we are letting Tom Cruise do to us? Infighting among the Mac faithful! Don't you see, this is how he and BIll Gates are planning to conquer us...a house divided cannot stand!! Woe unto all of you!

Anyway, how did this thread go from laughing at the plethora of MI3 ads to a debate on religion? Seriously people. Extreme threadjacking isn't a sport...

Quite right. But it is also humorous to watch the twists and turns a thread can take, as conversations tend to do. It's just that here we have a record of it. Let it flow, I say.

I want to know if Katie is locked in her room so her and baby can't escape while Tom is out promoting the movie.

Didn't you hear the news? Tom ate them both last week.

Yes, but not freedom from complete idiocy:
Remember, whatever you believe in others may feel the same about your religion as you do about Scientology.

Note, I am not a Scientologist, nor am I trying to defend them. My point is that one of the pillars of Democracy is freedom of religion. We should not be bashing religion on this board. I am sure others could do the same for the various forms of Christianity, Muslim, Hindu, Budist, Shinto, etc. This gets us nowhere.

Now if you really don't like Tom Cruise or his religion and choose not to watch any of his movies that's your choice. And you are free to exercise that choice as no one is going to make you watch the movie. However, many others will want to watch it and that is their choice as well.

The question tho is Scientology a religion or a cult created by some zealot to make money off of famous rich people?

I won't be seeing it after the dreadful reviews the papers are giving it. Daily Mail are usually spot on, at least for my tastes. ho hum.

Hah, I was gonna ask that too. Scientology is little more than a cult. At least my definition (Christianity, Judaism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Islam, or the other 1 or 2 (sorry, its 3am. I'm past thinking)) over something that was invented a few years back by some random guy. established base. Oh, and it's followers following the rules might be good. Tom Cruise eat that placenta.

Whoa whoa whoa!!! rewind a bit there! Planet making project?! Sweet lord. I was making a game in 2002 called Titan Genesis, which was about a computer developed to sculpt a baron world into a habitable planet, only it was programmed by a Ned Flanders style character who was overly religious. So the computer thought it was god. and because of damage it was trying to act out Revelations.

*i'm not religious or a Star-Trek fan - never seen it, ever - , but the Genesis thing is a little creepy. maybe*

I probably won't be seeing this movie, simply because it doesn't look good. Loved the first one, though.

I don't understand how everyone just links someone's personal beliefs, personal life.. to their professional career. My wife 'hates' Tom Cruise.. and I dragged her to see MI:3 today, and she loved it. Reluctantly, she admitted" Well..yeah.. he was good.. "

I loved the first MI.. the 2nd one sucked because of the romance theme..ugh.. this one I didn't expect to be good either, because the previews didn't look good.. but it was pretty good. When you go watch a movie, don't be so critical.. just enjoy it!

I don't care if Tom Cruise could practice Scientology or Hinduism or be a Jehovah's Witness..or marry Katie Holmes or whatever.. his movies provide good entertainment, and thats about it.

Well put.

There would probably be no music or movie industry if everyone refused to support those who have different beliefs or lifestyles.

It's merely entertainment.

Again well put. I'm not going to see it because I disagree that it's entertainment :)

seriously: i found mission impossible never really outstanding... far from it actually: pretty average is a lot more fitting

the second was boring

and after seeing war of the worlds i think it has been pretty clear that tom cruise's acting career is pretty much over .. man that movie was so bad

offtopic: and sushi you get minus points in my book for equaling a scam with religion ;)

Oh well.

Personally I know very little about Scientology nor do I want to at this time.

I've served my country so that folks can enjoy freedom of religion whatever it may be. It doesn't matter to me. Tom Cruise could worship rocks for all I care.

I have my personal beliefs. They are mine. I must live and die by them. Everybody else must do the same. Who am I to say what is right or wrong?!

However, one thing is for sure, when we die we take the final exam on life! :)
