I have been experiencing lower scores than usual as well with my iPhone 6S 64GB. iPhone does not get hot. Never had beta software.
Power saving off.
Metal: 8385
CPU
Single-Core: 2198
Multi-Core: 3854
Also eligible for battery replacement. My father's iPhone 6S hits 2400+ Single-Core and 4400+ Multi-core.

Actually - have you tried holding the power button till the "slide" thing appears, then holding the home button till it goes away, and then running the test? This clears RAM.
Already did multiple times before, including browsing history / cache clearing. No changes at all.
Yes, I also did a hard reset (holding power and home buttons for 10 seconds). No change to my scores.
Interesting to note that both Phuuz and I have some of the first 6S's made (since we're eligible for battery replacement). I wonder if any other 6S owners with phones from the same batch get similar scores? I doubt it though. Very strange.

My iPhone was eligible for battery replacement and I did that 4 months ago. I have higher scores for CPU but a lower score for metal. Mine has a Samsung cpu if that makes a difference. You can find my scores at my previous post.
Just thought I'd update this.
So I finally brought in my 6S for the free battery replacement two days ago. I showed up, told the Genius my phone was eligible for the battery replacement program, and also mentioned the poor performance I've been experiencing. The Genius ran diagnostics but nothing appeared out of the ordinary. She said I could pay for a replacement phone but since I'll be upgrading in a few months I figured I could deal with it and I'd just have the battery replaced for now.
Couple of hours later and my 6S has a new battery in it. I've used it quite a bit since then and it has been running buttery smooth. I just ran another Geekbench test, here are my scores:
Metal: 9978
Single-Core: 2527
Multi-Core: 4385
My last benchmark, ran on July 22nd, gave me a 1456 single-core score and a 2469 multi-core score.
I have no idea why replacing the battery would make the phone feel like new again, but sure enough that's what happened. Just a heads up in case anyone out there with a 6S is experiencing crap performance like I did.
This is exactly what I was thinking happened! I noticed after their software battery life (semi) fix, all my benchmarks fell off a cliff.
I think what they did was no longer allow the processor to have such bursty loads, as a sudden power draw seemed like what was making them shut down with the defective batteries. Unfortunately that also reduced performance, which they conveniently never told us about.
Speaking of, if they can add albums to everyones iTunes, why can't they just detect the defective batteries and send you a notification to get it repaired? This is what annoys me about them, any big defect and they still try to dodge the repair bill, like how they only added the program for 2011 macbook pro solder flaws four years after it happened and most people had moved on.
